Requirements
  • Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in engineering, computer science, or related STEM field
  • Previous internship or related professional experience a plus but not required
  • Experience with at least one query, object-oriented, and/or scripting language (Python and SQL preferred)
  • Interest and/or coursework in engineering or materials science
  • Data organization: Be able to clean, validate, and organize data from various sources into a centralized, tidy format
  • Data analysis: Demonstrate the ability to interpret and analyze data with a programming language, extract meaningful insights, and offer actionable recommendations
  • Problem-solving: Be able to analyze complex problems, identify potential solutions, and implement effective strategies to address issues that arise in the course of your work
  • Teamwork: Be able to work with a diverse group of people from different cultures and educational backgrounds towards achieving common goals
  • Effective Communication: Be able to communicate complex ideas to a broad range of audiences
Responsibilities
  • Data Engineering: contribute to our R&D data infrastructure
  • Build Databricks ELT pipelines to structure data from machine-generated sources
  • Develop validation and monitoring tools to enhance data integrity
  • Employ CI/CD methods to deliver well-documented and tested code
  • Data Science: collaborate with R&D researchers
  • Architect pragmatic data science solutions, considering all stakeholder needs
  • Deliver exploratory data analyses to gain practical insights
  • Train, validate, and deploy machine learning models to guide materials development
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with version control and contributing to an existing codebase
  • Experience with cloud data platforms, like Databricks
  • Experience with data science and/or machine learning techniques
