Requirements
- The candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
- The candidate must be able to stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- The candidate must have at least two years of experience in a similar position.
- The candidate must have knowledge of road construction materials, processes, and industry requirements.
- The candidate must have knowledge of loaders and other heavy equipment, including computerized controls and electronics.
- The candidate must be able to work independently or as an active member of a team.
- The candidate must be willing to travel out of town and/or work overtime when required.
- English and Spanish fluency is a plus but is not required.
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operate the loader and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment, as well as routine cleaning, to ensure smooth operation of the loader.
- Operate the loader controls to lower and tilt the bucket, drive forward to force the bucket into bulk material, raise and tilt the bucket when filled, and dump material.
- Maintain a sound understanding of issues involving ground disturbance.
- Operate the loader on public or private roadways while maintaining awareness of surroundings.
- Understand and follow supervisors' directions regarding the required work area.
- Perform job tasks outdoors, including in inclement weather, heat, and humidity, with exposure to dust and asphalt.
