Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
  • Hold an LPN license in New York State.
  • Have basic computer skills.
  • Have knowledge of safety and infection control policies.
  • Be CPR certified.
Responsibilities
  • Administer routine nursing services to sub-acute, chronic, and convalescent adult and geriatric residents under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Practice within the LPN scope of practice.
  • Identify and report changes in resident status to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
  • Perform and maintain knowledge of vital signs, medication administration, laboratory-value monitoring, resident care before and after procedures, geriatric competency, hospice care, pain management, resident safety, restraints, isolation precautions and personal protective equipment, and resident admission and discharge.
  • Provide written and verbal educational material to residents, patients, and families, and document education according to policy.
  • Update and implement resident plans of care appropriately.
  • Accurately transcribe and document physician orders using a computer order-entry system.
  • Accurately reconcile medications upon resident admission and discharge.
  • Participate in resident feeding and oversee dining areas as assigned.
  • Assist in orienting new employees.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and/or prior clerical experience is preferred.
