About the Job

Requirements

  • System-level engineering thinking that considers the product in its business context and across related disciplines.
  • People-management skills, including delegation, assigning tasks, reviewing work, and supporting employee development.
  • Confidence in making technical decisions.
  • Initiative and independence in forming an approach without waiting for instructions.
  • Ability to collaborate with product, quality assurance, manufacturing engineering, and procurement teams.
  • Organization, including tracking deadlines and task completion and planning work.
  • Willingness to mentor and help less-experienced engineers develop.
  • SolidWorks proficiency, primarily solid modeling with some surface modeling, and basic sheet-metal knowledge.
  • Ability to create accurate assemblies and constraints, verify tolerances, and prepare models for transfer to molding production.
  • Ability to divide complex projects into subassemblies and use reference geometry and configurations.
  • Knowledge of injection mold operation, including opening directions, injection points, parting lines, and risks of short shots and air pockets.
  • Ability to optimize designs for scalability and cost reduction, including reducing part count, weld seams, and molding cycle time.
  • Experience working with factories in Ukraine or China, understanding mold lifecycle, and participating in changes after T1/T2.
  • Basic knowledge of metal-processing methods, including bending, stamping, laser cutting, and milling for internal frames and auxiliary components.
  • Ability to manually inspect and assemble prototypes and analyze critical components.
  • Ability to identify and resolve sealing, play, and fit-up problems.
  • Ability to use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Knowledge of ABS, PC, PC+ABS, PA+GF, TPE, and TPU properties, including shrinkage, impact strength, heat resistance, and elasticity.
  • Understanding of how materials behave during manufacturing and use under temperature, moisture, and ultraviolet exposure.
  • Ability to balance cost, quality, and manufacturability when selecting materials.
  • Ability to design latches, clips, guides, rubber seals, TPE/TPU elements, and mounting slots.
  • Ability to design user-interface elements, including buttons, indicators, light guides, ports, and ventilation openings.
  • Understanding of sealing methods for IP54–IP67 protection, heat dissipation, and battery-compartment installation.
  • Ability to generate a complete drawing package, including 2D outlines, tolerance tables, bills of materials, and assembly specifications.
  • Ability to update designs based on prototyping results or manufacturing feedback.
  • Ability to help prepare technical descriptions for quality control, assembly instructions, and controlled design documentation.
  • Basic English (A2+) for technical documentation and communication with international partners.
  • Experience with PDM or ERP systems; SolidWorks PDM is preferred.
  • Ability to independently find solutions and analyze problems rather than merely redraw a part.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full design cycle for plastic enclosures and mechanical assemblies for consumer electronics.
  • Develop DFM- and DFH-oriented solutions for mass production, including plastic injection molding, assembly, sealing, and serviceability.
  • Collaborate with hardware and embedded engineers, industrial designers, manufacturing engineers, the quality department, and production teams.
  • Develop ergonomic, intuitive designs that can be adapted to different operating environments.
  • Prepare production handoff documentation, including 2D drawings, specifications, technical requirements, and 3D models for molds.
  • Support molds and coordinate changes after initial molding trials (T0–T2), analyzing molding defects.
  • Participate in testing and gather feedback from prototypes and production, then make design changes.
  • Make engineering decisions and ensure products meet expected assembly, weight, strength, and ingress-protection parameters.
  • Support products from concept through scaled production, including analyzing cost and the effect of design decisions on unit cost.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with PDM or ERP systems, preferably SolidWorks PDM.
