Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive audit experience.
  • Relevant professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Public Accountant, or Certification in Risk Management Assurance, or progress toward certification.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, risk management, and corporate governance.
  • Working knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and public company compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of the Institute of Internal Auditors’ Global Standards for the Professional Practices of Internal Auditing.
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems, solve problems, and write and edit reports.
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to pursue root causes and thoroughly understand processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization through verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.

Responsibilities
  • Provide operational support to the Director of Internal Audit, including day-to-day coordination of the outsourced internal audit service provider.
  • Act as a liaison between the outsourced internal audit service provider and business unit management teams.
  • Coordinate meetings with the outsourced internal audit service provider throughout the audit cycle.
  • Assist the Director of Internal Audit in maintaining the quality assurance and improvement program.
  • Manage multiple audit assignments across various stages of the audit cycle, adjust priorities as business needs change, and support special requests and ad hoc projects.
  • Participate in the annual risk assessment process and development of the internal audit plan.
  • Perform risk-based financial, operational, and compliance audits by preparing scopes and conducting risk assessments, walkthroughs, and fieldwork.
  • Participate in walkthroughs and testing of key controls to assess design and operating effectiveness in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Coordinate management’s quarterly Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts.
  • Lead discussions regarding audit observations and promote awareness of risk and control concepts.
  • Prepare audit findings and communicate recommendations to management and stakeholders.
  • Track and validate the resolution of audit issues, regulatory examination findings, and control deficiencies.
  • Provide guidance to business unit management during implementation of remediation plans.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline business processes, increase efficiency, and drive continuous improvement within audits and the internal audit function.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with business unit management teams.
  • Serve as a liaison with external auditors throughout the year.
  • Maintain membership in good standing with the Institute of Internal Auditors if certification is obtained.
  • Pursue continued professional development and continuing education covering industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal audit best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations applicable to the position and the Univest Code of Conduct.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Univest Financial reports $23M Q2 income despite $5.2M OREO property charge

Univest Financial Corporation reported second-quarter net income of $23.0 million, or $0.82 per diluted share, compared to $20.0 million, or $0.69 per share, in the same period last year. The results included a $5.2 million pre-tax charge related to a valuation adjustment on a real estate property, reducing earnings by $0.15 per share. This was partially offset by $708,000 in tax-free bank-owned life insurance death benefit proceeds. Gross loans and leases grew $101.7 million, or 1.5%, from the previous quarter, driven by commercial and real estate lending. Total deposits increased $119.2 million, or 1.8%, during the same period. Net interest income rose to $66.2 million, up 11.3% year-over-year, whilst net interest margin improved to 3.49% from 3.20% a year earlier. The company declared a quarterly dividend of $0.23 per share.

Semnox, Univest Capital launch 0% interest program. Semnox Solutions and Univest Capital have teamed to offer a promotional financing program designed to "help family entertainment centers invest in modern guest-facing technology without the burden of upfront capital." Through this limited-time initiative, the companies report that qualified operators can take advantage of 0% interest financing for 12 months with no money down, with the first payment due a month from signing. "This offer allows venues to implement Semnox card systems and operational technology while preserving cash flow during a year of heavy reinvestment and expansion planning," the company said. "This program is about removing hesitation from the decision-making process," said Phil Showler, the FEC head of sales for North America at Semnox. "Most operators know when updates are needed, but timing and budget often slow progress. This gives them an option to move forward without putting everything on hold, which is critical as guest expectations continue to rise."
