Requirements
  • A Master's degree in learning sciences, education, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Three to five years of experience in instructional design and/or online course design in higher education.
  • At least one year supporting faculty with designing new fully online asynchronous programs or, for the design team, at least one year supporting faculty with designing multimodal programs including blended, noncredit, in-person, and online formats.
  • Postsecondary teaching and/or training experience.
  • Experience applying adult learning theory and learning design methodologies to a learning experience.
  • Experience applying project management methodology to effectively lead instructional projects.
  • Ability to understand and implement fundamental instructional design methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, written and orally, with audiences from diverse backgrounds, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where services are in high demand and new initiatives are introduced routinely.
  • Deep knowledge of instructional alignment and learning outcomes development.
  • Proficiency in enterprise technologies including Canvas and other learning tools interoperability systems.
  • Ability to apply problem-solving skills, perform analyses, and seek solutions for continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in coordinating and managing the course design process.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines and project plans effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team within a cross-functional unit.
  • Ability to follow processes and make flexible decisions while interacting with stakeholders to reach project deliverables.
Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one consultation to assigned faculty on instructional technologies, pedagogical strategies, and learning principles throughout design and implementation cycles.
  • Plan and manage instructional design projects, including online course development and related instructional initiatives.
  • Facilitate the development and review process for educational media asset creation, quality assurance, and usability testing.
  • Collaborate with design, media, and technology professionals to ensure courses are developed on time and within scope.
  • Develop and deliver resource materials, workshops, and presentations supporting faculty digital pedagogy.
  • Document and share course development benchmarks, outcomes, and success metrics.
  • Solve high-level problems as faculty employ instructional design and technology methods.
  • Pilot new technological and pedagogical strategies.
  • Collaborate with diverse campus groups to support online teaching and learning.
Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency in coding with HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Proficiency with visual design using Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and other software used to develop engaging training experiences.
