Alcoa operates across the aluminum value chain—from bauxite mining and alumina refining to primary aluminum and fabricated aluminum products—for customers in aerospace, automotive, construction, and packaging. It uses an integrated end-to-end process, from extraction to smelting and fabrication, enhanced by ongoing research and development to produce specialized alloys and efficient manufacturing methods. Its global, fully integrated model helps it reduce costs and supply risk by controlling both inputs and outputs, setting it apart from competitors that lack scale in integration. Its goal is to maintain leadership in the aluminum market by delivering reliable supply and ongoing material innovations to a worldwide customer base.

South32 maintains production guidance as it focuses on growth projects. Copper and zinc projects hit key milestones as Hermosa construction continues. Companies Reporter South23 is maintaining its production guidance across all its operations for the 2027 financial year and achieved key development milestones for its copper and zinc growth projects in the first quarter ended September. CEO Matt Daley said on Monday the Sierra Gorda mine in northern Chile increased payable copper equivalent production by 11% on higher planned copper grades and paid a record quarterly distribution of $153m. "Sierra Gorda also commenced execution of the fourth grinding line project, which is expected to increase processing capacity by 25%, increasing our exposure to copper," he said. Manganese production was 14% higher as Australia Manganese benefited from improved operating conditions after the wet season and South Africa Manganese lifted underground productivity at Wessels. Alumina production increased by 1%, with both refineries operating near nameplate capacity, while aluminium production was largely unchanged as Hillside Aluminium continued to test nameplate and Brazil Aluminium ramped-up. At Hermosa, in Arizona, South32 continued construction of underground and surface infrastructure for the Taylor zinc-lead-silver project. During the quarter, net cash increased by $14m to $297m as it received a distribution of $153m from Sierra Gorda, continued the group's investment in growth at Hermosa, and experienced a temporary build in working capital. Last week, South32 shareholders voted overwhelmingly to approve the group's sale of its aluminium value chain assets to Alcoa. At the AGM on October 15, shareholders with 99.18% of the group's shares gave the deal the green light, the group said. In June South32 entered into an agreement to sell its aluminium value chain assets to Alcoa for up to $5.6bn. As part of the transaction, Alcoa will acquire South32's interests in Worsley Alumina, Hillside Aluminium in Richards Bay in KwaZulu-Natal, MRN bauxite mine, the Brazil Alumina refinery and the Brazil Aluminium smelter. The transaction is on track for completion in the June 2027 half year, subject to relevant regulatory approvals, and will reposition South32 as a leading upstream base-metals-focused company with high-margin assets and transformational growth, said Daley. At the AGM, chair Stephen Pearce described the deal as transformational, representing a step change that repositions South32 as an upstream base metals company with high-margin assets and transformational growth. "It will provide us with additional balance sheet flexibility to invest in our next phase of growth, while delivering shareholder returns," he said. Addressing the AGM, Daley said the group believes copper and zinc have attractive fundamentals. It has high-margin assets that can grow production from projects already in construction by 55%. "A large part of that will come from Hermosa's large-scale, long-life, zinc-lead-silver Taylor project. Earlier this year, an assessment of the Taylor project's milestones confirmed its potential to deliver attractive returns and its expected operating life increased by five years to 33 years," he said. Business Day
Alcoa (NYSE: AA) shares rose after the aluminium producer beat third-quarter earnings expectations. Adjusted profit was $1.82 per share, against analyst forecasts of $1.54. Sales rose 23.7% to $3.7 billion, slightly below the $3.8 billion analysts expected. Earnings under generally accepted accounting principles more than doubled to $1.81 per share, and profit margin grew from 7.7% to 13%. Free cash flow came to $472 million. Chief executive officer William F. Oplinger said better refinery performance and acquisitions lifted aluminium output. Alcoa reaffirmed its target of shipping 2.6 to 2.8 million metric tons of aluminium and 11.5 to 11.6 million metric tons of alumina this year. Higher input costs may weigh on profit.
Alcoa more than doubled its third-quarter net profit to $483 million from $232 million a year earlier, though lower aluminium prices and shipments weighed on earnings compared with the previous quarter. Shares rose about 9.3% on Friday morning in New York. Revenue rose 24% year on year to $3.70 billion but fell 7% from the second quarter. Adjusted EBITDA fell to $789 million from $901 million. Alumina production rose 11% from the previous quarter to 2.5 million metric tonnes, and aluminium output rose 2% to 649,000 tonnes. Alcoa ended September with $4.4 billion in cash. The company's planned acquisition of South32's assets is on track to close in the first half of 2027, after South32 shareholders approved the deal on October 15.
Century Aluminum shares climb over 5% as Alcoa earnings beat and tight aluminum supply lift US producers. The company released no specific news, but investor sentiment improved after Alcoa beat earnings expectations and pointed to historically low aluminium inventories. Published 10/17/26 AT 2:28 AM AEDT NEW YORK - Shares of Century Aluminum rose more than 5% on Friday, as strong results from larger rival Alcoa and signs of tight global aluminum supply lifted sentiment toward U.S. aluminum producers. Century Aluminum shares were up $1.91, or 5.58%, at $36.11 in late-morning trading on the Nasdaq. The company has a market value of about $3.6 billion. Century did not release any company-specific news on Friday. Alcoa lifts the sector The gain came after Alcoa reported third-quarter adjusted earnings of $1.82 per share, well above analyst expectations, and strong cash flow. Alcoa shares jumped more than 7%. Alcoa's management also noted that global aluminum inventories remain historically low, a factor that can support prices for producers. Alcoa's average realized aluminum price was $4,527 a tonne in the third quarter, down from the second quarter but well above year-earlier levels, reflecting a strong pricing environment for the metal. US producer Century Aluminum is one of the largest primary aluminum producers in the United States, operating smelters in Kentucky and South Carolina, as well as in Iceland. U.S. tariffs on imported aluminum have benefited domestic producers by raising prices in the U.S. market. Century has been working to expand domestic production, including plans for new smelting capacity. Low valuation Century trades at a low valuation relative to its earnings, with a price-to-earnings ratio of about 5.5, reflecting both strong recent profits and investor caution about the volatility of aluminum prices and energy costs, which are a major expense for smelters. The stock is up about 5% over the past year. What's next Century is expected to report its third-quarter results in the coming weeks. Investors will watch for updates on production, energy costs and the outlook for aluminum prices, as well as progress on expansion plans. MEET IBT NEWS FROM BELOW CHANNELS
Alcoa gains 8%, United States Antimony jumps 10% after Alcoa's Q3 beat and data center site sale; Cleveland-Cliffs rises 2%. An aluminum giant's earnings surprise and an unexpected land deal sent its shares surging, while a small antimony miner somehow climbed even higher without any news at all. An earnings beat and a data center land deal are sending an aluminum producer's shares sharply higher. Alcoa (NYSE:AA | AA Price Prediction) shares are up 8% to $43.69 in morning trading. Its adjusted earnings exceeded analyst estimates, and the company agreed to sell part of a New York site for data center development. Meanwhile, United States Antimony (NYSEAMERICAN:UAMY) shares are up 10% to $3.05, beating even Alcoa stock. United States Antimony mines and processes antimony, a critical mineral tied to U.S. national security and defense procurement. The Materials Select Sector SPDR ETF (NYSEARCA:XLB) is up 2%, a far smaller advance than either Alcoa or United States Antimony stock. Meanwhile, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY) is essentially flat, leaving both metals names well ahead of the broad market. Earnings beat and data center deal lift Alcoa. Key data−. Previous Close Market Cap Day's Range 52wk Range Dividend Yield Alcoa, which produces bauxite, alumina and aluminum, reported Q3 2026 results after Thursday's close with adjusted earnings of $1.82 per share, exceeded the $1.49 consensus estimate. Its revenue of $3.7 billion missed the $3.76 billion forecast. Production also improved, with Alcoa lifting aluminum output for the sixth consecutive quarter and completing the restart of its Alumar smelter in Brazil. Alumina output rose 11% sequentially as the Pinjarra refinery recovered stability. Chief Executive William Oplinger summarized the period. He did so by stating, "During the third quarter, we advanced the AliGroup acquisition, delivered improved refinery performance, and increased production across our smelting portfolio." A second catalyst came from Alcoa's Massena East site in New York, where the company agreed to sell portions of the land for data center development (the same AI expansion driving demand for the power, cooling, and networking suppliers we rounded up in a free report). Those agreements carry potential proceeds of up to $315 million. Oplinger described the sale on the earnings call as a first step in generating cash from its assets. Alumina tightness versus softer aluminum prices. The bull case for Alcoa rests on what Oplinger described as tightening alumina supply outside China. Management pointed to a "clear divergence between softer market conditions in China and tightening fundamentals outside China." Softer aluminum pricing is the main concern weighing on Alcoa, and it dragged down the company's third-quarter metal sales. Lower prices and shipments drove a 9% sequential decline in Alcoa's Aluminum segment revenue. Alcoa also expects $30 million in higher raw material costs and another $30 million in adverse alumina costs to pressure that segment in Q4 2026. Free Report, Just Released Why Didn't CLF Make The Top 10 List? 24/7 Wall St has helped investors make money for over two decades, and our top analysts just finished ranking the definitive Top 10 Stocks To Buy Now. Not the ten biggest companies. Not the ten everyone is arguing about. The ten best stocks to buy right now. And CLF didn't make the cut! The report is free, and you can see why we think each stock is a top investment today. Global aluminum inventories remain historically low, according to Alcoa's management. Executives described North America and Europe as "structurally short of metal." Antimony rally outpaces the Materials fund. Previous Close Market Cap Day's Range 52wk Range Dividend Yield United States Antimony shares are climbing without a fresh company announcement behind the move. The company has a sole-source Defense Logistics Agency contract. It supplies military-specification antimony ingots, and it has expanded its Thompson Falls smelter in Montana. Steelmaker Cleveland-Cliffs (NYSE:CLF) makes flat-rolled products for automotive, infrastructure and manufacturing customers. Alcoa's aluminum order book looks different, with packaging and electrical markets leading demand and most products "sold out or tightly committed." CLF stock is up 2% to $12.42. AliGroup deal and asset sales set Alcoa's path. Looking ahead for Alcoa is whether the AliGroup acquisition of South32's bauxite, alumina and aluminum assets closes in the first half of 2027. Funding came from a $2.6 billion senior notes offering, which Alcoa plans to pair with cash on hand to cover about $3.1 billion in cash consideration before focusing on rapid debt reduction. Traders can watch for whether the Massena East sale closes within the expected six months, since Alcoa's initial proceeds of $50 million to $65 million depend on permitting and regulatory approvals. For United States Antimony stock, the open variable is whether its gain holds without a company-specific catalyst. Alcoa shares now reflect a sharp earnings beat. However, Q4 cost pressures and softer aluminum prices remain unresolved, so investors should keep their positions moderate. Got $1,000? Before you buy CLF, read this.
