Requirements
  • Applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
  • Family physicians must have membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
  • Specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Applicants must have membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
  • Applicants must hold current Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification.
  • Applicants must hold current Advanced Trauma Life Support certification.
  • Applicants must hold current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
  • Applicants without current CCFP(EM) or FRCPC credentials must have current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Airway certifications.
Responsibilities
  • Provide emergency medical services in a Level 2 emergency department with 24/7 emergency access.
  • Work rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Work current 12-hour shifts, with potential evening coverage shifts.
  • Occasionally rotate through other Northern Zone Emergency Departments when required to meet critical operational requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Plus 1 qualification is desired but not mandatory.
  • Emergency department ultrasound training is strongly desirable and supported by the department.
