Requirements
  • Hold a valid State of Texas Master Electrician License in good standing.
  • Have 7+ years of professional hands-on experience in industrial, commercial, or utility-scale electrical construction.
  • Have a proven track record leading electrical crews, managing field subcontractors, and collaborating directly with building inspectors and utility engineers.
  • Have expert-level knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, and local Texas utility interconnection frameworks.
  • Demonstrate mastery in reading, interpreting, and redlining complex electrical schematics, three-line diagrams, and instrumentation drawings.
  • Be able to work actively in extreme outdoor desert environments, stand or walk for the duration of a shift, and lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Be able to author technical instructions, safety protocols, and field reports in English.
  • Verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
Responsibilities
  • Act as the designated Master Electrician of Record for Ambrosia Energy's Texas operations, pull necessary electrical permits, and ensure all installations comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local utility requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and sign off on the work of field electricians, technicians, and installers deploying rapid-deployment solar arrays and containerized battery storage units.
  • Oversee high-voltage and low-voltage field wiring, main service panel tie-ins, medium-voltage transformer connections, and utility grid interconnections.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce commissioning test protocols, including cold checks, hot checks, loop checks, and insulation resistance (megger) testing, to certify field assets safely.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical faults on-site, including DC-DC conversion systems, solar maximum power point tracking networks, power distribution units, and fiber/copper communication infrastructure.
  • Collaborate directly with California- and Austin-based engineering teams to review design schematics, propose optimizations for field manufacturability, and streamline plug-and-play installation processes.
  • Own site-wide electrical safety programs, ensuring strict adherence to NFPA 70E standards and proper Occupational Safety and Health Administration lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Support field teams across first and second shifts and work extended hours or weekends as critical deployment milestones dictate.
Desired Qualifications
  • Deep, hands-on experience installing utility-scale solar fields, commercial solar microgrids, or utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • Familiarity with high-voltage DC system hazards, lithium-ion battery management systems, and central inverter technologies.
  • Experience in fast-paced, high-stakes operational environments such as aerospace test complexes, automotive assembly plants, or industrial automation facilities.
  • Active certifications in OSHA 30 and heavy equipment operation, including forklifts, telehandlers, and skid steers.

Ambrosia Energy builds, owns, and operates solar plus battery plants that deliver continuous off-grid power for data centers and industrial users. It offers two options: co-locating at a West Texas site or building a plant on a customer’s site, with end-to-end management of land, permitting, battery manufacturing, and operations. The core product is a complete solar-plus-battery system that maintains high capacity even when the grid isn’t used, targeting a 99.9% capacity factor and using lithium iron phosphate cells with a fast-installation method. By vertically integrating the entire process and offering turnkey delivery, Ambrosia aims for about $100 per MWh, with contract-to-power in roughly 12 months, providing a practical alternative to natural gas for large-scale power needs.

Early Tesla and SpaceX investor Steve Jurvetson is backing Ambrosia Energy, a startup founded by former SpaceX executives Ben Longmier and Sara Spangelo. The company aims to solve artificial intelligence's growing electricity demand through off-grid solar and battery systems for data centres. Jurvetson's venture firm DFJ Growth announced the investment on Wednesday. Ambrosia targets electricity costs of around $100 per megawatt-hour with 99.9% availability and deployment within one year. The startup vertically integrates land acquisition, permitting, engineering, battery manufacturing, and construction. Its system combines solar power with 24-hour lithium-iron-phosphate battery storage, using a proprietary installation method designed to deploy panels 12 times faster than conventional approaches. Spangelo and Longmier previously co-founded Swarm Technologies, which SpaceX acquired in 2021. Ambrosia's next project targets 200 MW of solar capacity delivering 20 MW of continuous power.
