  • The candidate must be skilled in critical thinking, problem identification, and resolution.
  • The candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
  • The candidate must have consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five years.
  • The candidate must be able to use a computer to communicate via email.
  • The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and related tools and technology.
  • Work products must be thorough, accurate, appropriately documented, and compliant with established criteria.
  • The candidate must understand and be proficient with business tools and technology, including Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Adobe Acrobat, data analytic tools, and Visio.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the National Transuranic Program and compliance and execution of DOE Order 435.1, Radioactive Waste Management.
  • Provide expert opinion and feedback at critical points in projects.
  • Ensure project safety and regulatory documentation is complete, accurate, and reliable for submission to regulators or other Department of Energy offices.
  • Assist with the Transuranic program and waste acceptance criteria for shipment of Transuranic waste to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant Repository.
  • Assist with operations activities at the T Plant, including preparations to receive K Basin sludge.
  • Assist with Central Waste Complex operations, drum and waste container identification, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act enhancement work.
  • Assist with Solid Waste Operating Complex documented safety analyses and technical safety requirements and their impact on facility operations.
  • Assist with mixed low-level waste burial ground operations and waste disposal.
  • Assist with Naval Reactors disposal and maintenance.
  • Participate in project conference calls as a subject-matter expert for assigned areas.
  • Participate in on-site assessments.
  • Support the Federal Project Director.
  • Provide detailed technical oversight and support to prevent programmatic failure, including failures to comply with regulations or coordinate resources.
  • Assist in preparing draft reports, including safety analyses, assessments, regulatory documents, waste acceptance criteria, technical reports, and other documents.
  • Assess the adequacy of AK packages, waste packages, Transuranic waste characterization information, and waste generation.
  • Provide recommendations for areas that may need improvement.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the Hanford site and wastes managed at the Hanford site is preferred.
