Requirements
  • A Ph.D. in Plant & Soil Sciences, Agronomy, Natural Resources, Environmental Sciences, or a closely related field is required.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels is required.
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication for various audiences is required.
  • Demonstrated ability for effective teaching and scholarship is required.
  • Potential to obtain external funding is required.
  • Demonstrated support of professional organizations in the discipline is required.
Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Plant and Soil Sciences, and Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences.
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students and work with student organizations.
  • Assist with recruiting students into the undergraduate agriculture degree program and the graduate program in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences.
  • Use current and emerging technologies to conduct research in soil fertility and sustainable nutrient management in forage systems; plant productivity, quality, and adaptation; and soil health and long-term agricultural productivity.
  • Publish research results in refereed journals.
  • Seek and acquire externally funded grants and contracts for relevant research projects.
  • Engage in service activities and professional development with colleagues, the department, college, university, community, and professional organizations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Preference is given to candidates whose work complements existing strengths in plant, soil, and environmental sciences, as well as natural resources research areas.
