What believers are saying

  • Mechanics get hiring incentives: EVR lists CAD5,000 signing bonuses and up to CAD10,000 relocation assistance, subject to eligibility.
  • Longer mine life is planned: EVR proposes approximately 35 additional years at Fording River.
  • Mining engineering co-ops get support: EVR lists travel and fee assistance plus priority consideration for professional roles after graduation.

What critics are saying

  • Mechanics rotate between days and nights: EVR's listed site-based role requires both types of shift.
  • Water liabilities follow mining: runoff through EVR waste rock carries selenium and nitrate into the watershed.
  • Expansion faces review: June 2026 regulators required engagement on water, wildlife and reclamation for EVR's assessment.

What makes Elk Valley Resources unique

  • Steelmakers own part of their supplier: Nippon Steel and POSCO together hold 23% of EVR.
  • Export infrastructure includes an ownership stake: EVR holds 46% of Neptune Terminals.
  • A former mine trains new recruits: EVR uses Coal Mountain as an employee training campus.
