Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or an Associate's degree or equivalent as stated in the alternate minimum-requirements section.
  • At least one year of experience, including experience as a Cardiovascular Technologist I or similar expertise.
  • Graduation from an accredited Invasive Cardiovascular Technology program, or equivalent education and experience with the required certification.
  • Alternatively, graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology and one year of radiologic experience.
  • RCIS, RCES, CEPS, or RT(R)CI certification is required within the first two years of hire and must be maintained; the alternate requirements also specify ARRT, RCIS, or RCES certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required from the American Heart Association or an American Red Cross equivalent.
  • Ability to perform invasive cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures, including basic diagnostic catheterization and interventional procedures.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted and perform the listed standing, walking, reaching, fine-motor, visual, hearing, and physical functions.
  • Ability to work in a latex-safe environment and qualify physically for respirator use.
Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease in an invasive procedure setting.
  • Perform scrub duties and related procedures for cardiac interventions, left heart catheterization, and right and left heart catheterization without assistance.
  • Perform scrub duties and related procedures for peripheral diagnostics or interventions with minimal assistance.
  • Scrub, gown, glove, and set up the back table with necessary equipment.
  • Record cardiac interventions and catheterization hemodynamics accurately.
  • Monitor procedures and document inventory used and the order of events in the Mac-Lab event log.
  • Maintain electrocardiogram setup and rhythm monitoring.
  • Maintain basic hemodynamic setup and waveform monitoring.
  • Assist fellow staff members in preparing the room for safe and effective patient care.
  • Perform required checks on all safety equipment.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are available to perform procedures.
  • Transport patients alone or accompanied by a fellow staff member.
  • Function as a resource to staff.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with telemetry.
  • Experience with arterial and venous sheath removal.
