Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of direct experience are required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in health plan contracting, healthcare operations, or revenue cycle is required.
  • Experience in a payer contracting role for a health plan, provider, or ancillary organization, or equivalent healthcare facility operations experience, is required.
  • Experience in commercial payer strategies, pricing, and reimbursement is required.
  • Ability to heavily leverage data and execute on defined action plans is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate and communicate cross-functionally are required.
  • The ability to travel to health plan meetings, company meetings, and center visits is required.
Responsibilities
  • Advance payer relationships to support growth across a multi-state, multi-facility portfolio.
  • Support stakeholders in contract negotiations, business development, finance, and operations through quantitative analysis and strategic application of payer contracts and their implications for financial results and growth.
  • Grow and advance payer relationships and identify opportunities to align on strategic initiatives.
  • Solve complex problems and develop innovative payment solutions with payers to advance portfolio growth.
  • Partner with Development and Operations teams to identify suitable growth opportunities.
  • Lead complex rate analysis to clarify contracting impacts on pro formas.
  • Interpret analyses, apply payer knowledge, and identify innovative payer initiatives to support recommendations.
  • Own overall rate growth through active communication, including cross-functional project implementation, monthly operating reviews, presentations to physician partners, physician recruiting planning with Sales, and resolution of contractual issues with Revenue Cycle.
  • Develop and execute contracting strategies for a defined portfolio of facilities and geographies.
  • Anticipate facility partnership needs and provide strategic direction to Operations around reimbursement, fee schedule management, and ambulatory surgical center growth.
  • Influence leaders to adopt new ideas, products, and approaches.
  • Develop and deliver metrics and reporting packages to Operations and Finance teams to clarify trends and opportunities to increase profitability.
  • Review work products, provide recommendations, and develop explanations of complex issues.
  • Execute multiple projects with some supervision and identify strategic opportunities with minimal supervisory support.
  • Lead work sessions on smaller projects and predict emerging customer needs.
  • Lead discussions to influence leaders to adopt new ideas, products, and approaches.
