About the job

Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in ERP systems, supply chain, material planning, BOM management, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience creating, managing, and maintaining EBOMs, MBOMs, and PBOMs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on proficiency with ERP systems, including BOM modules, demand planning, and inventory management; experience with multiple systems is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, product specifications, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including fabrication, assembly, subassembly structures, and production workflows.
  • Experience with change management, including Engineering Change Notices, Engineering Change Requests, and revision control.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve data discrepancies, quality issues, and system problems under production pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams across Engineering, Operations, and IT.
  • Experience training, mentoring, and providing technical direction to junior team members or coordinators.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, and data analysis.
Responsibilities
  • Own MBOM readiness review and PBOM creation and maintenance for all active programs across Phoenix and Buffalo.
  • Reconcile EBOM and MBOM at release and build the indented manufacturing structure required for the ERP.
  • Own initial ERP item setup, BOM upload, and demand creation; prevent duplicate item creation through system record review.
  • Maintain alignment between the working BOM, PBOM, and ERP as designs mature, including part substitutions, additions, removals, and ECN/ECR changes.
  • Manage demand adjustments as quantities increase, decrease, or are eliminated.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to validate raw-material requirements for MAKE items, including material type/specification, stock form, size, quantity, and other attributes needed to support accurate purchasing and ERP demand.
  • Review engineering drawings and BOM structures as needed to validate parent-child relationships, assembly/subassembly hierarchy, quantities, and downstream ERP structure; identify discrepancies and route technical questions to the appropriate Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering owner.
  • Coordinate BOM and system questions across Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, IT, and Production.
  • For projects where Procurement must buy ahead of a complete MBOM, work with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to build the interim structure needed for purchasing.
  • Define and document the BOM lifecycle process from Engineering release through MBOM, PBOM, ERP, demand, and production handoff, and drive consistent ownership at each stage.
  • Manage the pre-production-to-production handoff so BOM/system ownership formally transfers to Manufacturing/Production Engineering.
  • Partner with each site's ERP administrator on system setup, upload mechanics, and process optimization.
  • Train and provide technical direction to the ERP Material Control Coordinator.
  • Set standards and expectations for BOM data quality, accuracy, and process compliance.
  • Build the Coordinator's technical understanding and site-specific ERP proficiency to ensure Buffalo has continuity and a trained second resource.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with MRPeasy, StartProto, IFS Cloud, or similar mid-market ERP platforms.
  • Experience in a multi-site or matrix manufacturing environment with different ERP systems at different locations.
  • Background in fabrication, metalworking, assembly operations, or contract manufacturing.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management or engineering data management systems.
  • Familiarity with MRP/MPS (Master Production Scheduling) concepts and demand forecasting.
  • Certification in supply chain management, such as APICS CSCP or CPIM, or equivalent professional development.
  • SQL or basic database query experience for data extraction and reporting.

About the company

GTI Fabrication builds custom metal enclosures and modular systems for businesses developing energy storage, data center, defense and industrial equipment. Its structures house customers' batteries, electrical controls and mechanical equipment, with designs tailored to each product's operating requirements. Customers contract with GTI to turn their designs into finished hardware, combining engineering, metal fabrication and coatings with mechanical and electrical assembly. The company fits equipment into these structures and tests the completed systems before they leave its manufacturing facilities. Founded in 2015, GTI is headquartered in Buffalo, New York.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Customer relationships extend beyond delivery: GTI sells equipment maintenance, repairs and retrofits after manufacturing.
  • Employees get development pathways: GTI advertises training programs and routes into leadership roles on its careers page.
  • Launch work includes trial runs: GTI uses pilot production to identify manufacturing problems before full-scale output.

What critics are saying

  • International sourcing adds coordination: GTI manages customs and regional regulations across a manufacturing network spanning Asia, Europe and Mexico.
  • Goodyear inspection work is physical: GTI's second-shift quality technician posting requires occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Engineering teams answer to client specifications: GTI involves customers at every stage through final design approval.

What makes GTI Fabrication unique

  • Domestic procurement is built in: GTI manufactures U.S.-made shipping containers compliant with the Trade Agreements Act.
  • Production sites have distinct jobs: GTI's Phoenix facility integrates systems without fabrication, while Goodyear builds steel battery enclosures.
  • Quality processes carry certification: GTI identifies its organization as certified to the ISO 9001 quality management standard.
