Civil Engineer-Designer

About the job
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- At least 3 years of experience designing land development projects using Civil 3D.
- Passed FE/EIT certification and eligibility to sit for the PE exam where state rules allow.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks and work effectively with reduced day-to-day oversight.
- A client-service mindset, strong initiative, and a collaborative approach to project teams.
- Use independent judgment to prepare design calculations and engineering analyses on an assignment basis, including drainage and hydrology, storm pipe sizing, detention pond design, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, sewer pumping systems, sediment control, and pavement design.
- Independently prepare portions of construction plans, specifications, reports, studies, supporting documentation, cost estimates, and permit applications using company and industry-accepted standards.
- Anticipate potential problems on assignments and resolve conflicts before they affect schedule or quality.
- Prepare drawings, exhibits, and details using computer-aided design and drafting tools and company graphics standards, producing all necessary graphic elements of a moderately complex project without assistance.
- Assist the Project Engineer or Project Manager in preparing cost proposals, project schedules, and cost estimates as needed.
- Maintain a moderate level of client contact at the staff level and attend meetings on behalf of the company with clients, contractors, or resource agencies at the direction of the Project Manager.
- Work as part of a project team, coordinate with others, and assist in determining schedule and budget requirements.
- Receive direction on unconventional or complex problems and undergo thorough review of completed work for sound application of professional judgment.
- Attain mentored experience toward Professional Engineer licensure from a licensed civil engineer.
