Requirements
  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist current New York State licensure upon hire required
  • ARRT Radiography Certification with CE credits upon hire required
Responsibilities
  • Sets up and utilizes all MRI equipment including imaging coils, patient monitoring systems, and related articles
  • Evaluates image quality by troubleshooting scanner or coil problems and scan parameters
  • Identifies and compensates for imaging artifacts
  • Reviews MRI registration and screening form thoroughly in order to confirm safe access into magnet room
  • Assists in training new MRI technologists and students
  • Performs all filming, archiving and Picture Archiving and Communication System data management for each patient scanned
  • Retrieves old MRI data for restoration and filming or networking
  • Master new techniques with each subsequent scanner upgrade
  • Communicates all pertinent patient information to necessary staff
  • Receives training as well as regular direct supervision or guidance from more senior technologists
  • Responsible for scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, completing all associated paper and computer work, and discharging the patient from the MRI department with appropriate post MRI instructions
  • Identifies patient service requirements and educates patients/families regarding procedure
  • Prepares patient for radiological/MRI procedures by positioning patient and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors
  • Produces high quality images and presents them for timely interpretation
  • Prepares and maintains accurate documentation and maintains production and quality of MRI images
  • Maintains a safe environment following MRI safety policies and performs equipment quality control
  • Troubleshoots and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance
  • May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities
  • Other duties as assigned
