Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development certificate is required.
  • At least one year of experience as an instrument processor or surgical technologist is required.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician certification issued through the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician certification issued through The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution is required upon hire, or must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, TECHSYS, and Censitrac tracking is required.
  • The role requires the ability to build and maintain relationships, execute customer service, demonstrate leadership and adaptability, and solve problems.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare, sterilize, install, assemble, and clean clinic or healthcare equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures.
  • Ensure equipment, instruments, and supplies can be safely reused to prevent infections.
  • Package and deliver sterilized, appropriately functioning medical supplies and instrumentation aseptically to the point of use.
  • Serve as a clinical liaison between the Operating Rooms and the offsite Central Sterile Supply location to track and allocate sterilized instrumentation across the enterprise.
  • Procure and standardize instrument trays across the enterprise.
  • Coordinate and oversee daily activities between the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Departments to facilitate efficient case flow.
  • Assemble case carts and perform decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and high-level disinfection of reprocessed surgical inventory.
  • Assist with projects and process improvement.
  • Promote customer service and patient satisfaction through effective communication with Operating Room clinical operations and multiple sterile processing departments across the medical center.
  • Order, procure, and organize instrument trays globally to service the entire enterprise.
