Snap Lab is home to our hardware products with a world-class research & development team. We are focused on pushing the boundaries of what a camera can be, specifically overlaying computing on the real world. Next Generation Spectacles are our first pair of glasses that bring augmented reality to life. 

We’re looking for a Product Design Engineer Intern to join the Snap Lab team based at our headquarters in Santa Monica, Ca!

What you’ll do:

• Design, prototype, and analyze exciting new products and components

• Collaborate with industrial design and cross functional engineering teams

• Assist in failure analysis and recommendations for corrective action

• Create detailed design models and documentation for production

• Develop and conduct technical experiments to select designs, materials, and technologies

• Contribute to technical design reviews

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Some experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools (i.e., NX, Solidworks, Creo)

• Technical familiarity with product design, architecture, tolerance analysis, structural analysis

• Knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing methods including rapid prototyping

• Solid communication skills—written, verbal, and presentations

• Great interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across groups

• A passion for Snapchat and creativity!

​Minimum Qualifications: 

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters program in Mechanical Engineering or related field

• Graduating December 2024 or later

• Must be able to start our Santa Monica office on 5/20/2024 or 6/17/2024 for a 13-week internship

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with mechanical design of plastic and metal components, printed circuit boards (PCB) and flexible printed circuits (FPC)

• Experience and passion for hands on prototyping

• Experience with overseas manufacturing

• Experience with consumer electronics

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC), Zone B & Zone C: 

• The base salary for this position is $9,000 monthly.
