About the company

Samsara makes connected cameras, sensors, and software that let organizations with vehicle fleets and heavy equipment track and manage their field operations in one system. Its flagship AI dash cams watch both the road and the driver and warn about phone use or tailgating as it happens, and fleets use the recorded video to clear drivers of blame after crashes. Devices in vehicles and on equipment send location and engine data to a cloud dashboard, where managers plan routes, schedule maintenance, and log drivers' hours. Customers range from trucking firms to city governments, and they pay subscriptions priced per vehicle or asset. Samsara was founded in 2015 and is based in San Francisco, California.

Samsara's revenue hits $1.84B as investors eye a Palantir-style run in 2027

Samsara (NYSE: IOT), which sells software that helps organisations run vehicles and equipment, has seen its finances improve sharply. Revenue rose from about $250 million in 2021 to more than $1.84 billion over the past 12 months. Free cash flow was $255 million over the same period, against a cash burn of about $150 million in 2023. The company also turned profitable, with net income of about $91 million. About 96% of customers with more than $100,000 in annual recurring revenue use at least two Samsara products, and 70% use three or more. Valuation is the main hurdle. The stock trades at about 290 times earnings and 13.5 times sales, below its lifetime average of 16.5. Margins remain thin, and the company has a short record of profit.

Samsara becomes first Highway Certified ELD Provider.

Samsara becomes first Highway Certified ELD Provider. Industry leader commits to data integrity, reliability and transparency standards as Highway expands the Highway Certified Network Highway, the leading provider of Carrier Identity(R) solutions, announced that Samsara, a pioneer of the Connected Operations Platform, has become the first Highway Certified ELD Provider. A San Francisco-based IoT company, Samsara provides a cloud platform that combines hardware, software and AI to give businesses in the transportation, logistics, construction and other physical operations industries real-time visibility into their vehicles, equipment and operations. This designation expands the Highway Certified Network into electronic logging devices and telematics data. The Highway Certified Network establishes standards and shared accountability for the third-party data sources critical to freight brokers when making carrier selection, compliance and risk-management decisions. Highway launched the network earlier this year with Highway Certified Insurance Agencies and is now extending the framework to ELD providers. As a Highway Certified ELD Provider, Samsara has committed to defined standards around the integrity, availability, timeliness and reliability of vehicle and location data made available to Highway. "ELD data has become an important part of how brokers determine whether a carrier has the capability needed to haul a load," said Marshall Smith, Head of the Certified Network at Highway. "The trust in that signal hinges on the quality and provenance of the underlying data. Samsara stepping forward as our first Certified ELD Provider is powerful." Carrier-owned ELD information provides a strong signal within Highway's broader Carrier Identity(R) platform to help verify motor carriers, vehicles and operating activity. Vehicle identifiers and VIN information can be compared against insurance and other credentialing information to identify inconsistencies, while current and historical location information can support carrier verification, fraud detection, shipment execution and in-transit monitoring. Highway Certified ELD Providers agree to standards designed to ensure that data used for these purposes originates from legitimate ELD devices and accurately represents the associated vehicle. The data must also remain timely and available through production-grade integrations and is supported by defined operational and service expectations. "Samsara has built its platform around trusted, high-quality operational data and we are proud to be the first ELD provider to participate in Highway's Certified Network," said Ryan Yu, VP of Telematics AI, Samsara. "Motor carriers benefit when the systems they depend on can exchange reliable data with clear standards and accountability." The certification also establishes expectations around regulatory standing. Certified providers are required to maintain applicable ELD devices in good standing with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and provide notice of material regulatory or technical developments that could affect Highway's ability to rely on the data. For freight brokers, the expansion of the Highway Certified Network creates another source of stronger, more dependable signals at the point of carrier selection and throughout shipment execution. Motor carriers using Certified ELD Providers can benefit from trusted connectivity that helps Highway customers more confidently verify their identity, equipment and operations. "The freight industry does not have a shortage of data. It has a shortage of data you can confidently act on," said Michael Caney, Chief Commercial Officer at Highway. "Certification is our way of separating connectivity from trust. An integration tells you two systems can talk to each other. Certification tells you the participant providing that information has agreed to standards around what the data is, where it comes from and how reliably it will be delivered." Additional ELD providers are expected to join the Highway Certified Network. Highway intends to continue expanding certification compliance and risk decisions within the brokered freight ecosystem.

Samsara's disposable Tracking Label named to TIME's Best Inventions of 2026

Samsara Inc. (NYSE: IOT) said its Tracking Label has been named to TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 in the Logistics category. The disposable Bluetooth label, introduced in June, gives businesses near-real-time visibility into shipments across carriers. The label relies on the Samsara Network, millions of connected vehicles and devices on 99% of major US roads, to detect its signal and report its location. Carriers need not take part. Each label lasts 45 days and contains no lithium, so it can travel by air, ground, or rail. Cargo theft costs US businesses as much as $35 billion a year, while many shippers still rely on barcode scans that can be days apart. Samsara recently passed $2.1 billion in annual recurring revenue, up 30% year over year.

October 15, 2026 at 12:08 p.m. TIME honor follows Tracking Label recognition as Fast Company's Next Big Things in Tech and FreightWaves' AI Excellence in Supply Chain Award SAN FRANCISCO - Samsara Inc. ("Samsara") (NYSE: IOT), the pioneer of the Connected Operations(R) Platform, today announced that the Samsara Tracking Label has been named to TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 in the Logistics category. Introduced in June as part of Samsara Shipment Visibility, the disposable Bluetooth label gives businesses near-real-time visibility into shipments across carriers, extending the reach of the Samsara Network to high-value shipments, packages, and pallets. Cargo theft costs U.S. businesses as much as $35 billion annually, yet many shippers still rely on barcode scans for shipment visibility, with location updates sometimes days apart. For companies moving pharmaceuticals, electronics, and other high-value goods, a shipment can be stolen, delayed, or misrouted long before anyone knows to intervene. Those gaps also make it harder to catch everyday exceptions, such as a missed handoff or a shipment headed to the wrong address. The Tracking Label lets teams see what happens between scans so they can prevent delays, avoid misdeliveries, and respond to potential theft before problems escalate. "Our customers shouldn't have to wait for a missed delivery to learn that something went wrong," said David Gal, VP of Product & Engineering at Samsara. "We're putting the reach of millions of connected devices to work for a single box. The Tracking Label makes that visibility simple to access, and the AI-powered Shipment Center helps teams decide which shipments need their attention. That means more time to solve a problem before it reaches the customer." Powering the paper-thin label is the Samsara Network: millions of connected vehicles and devices traveling across 99% of major U.S. roads. Those devices detect the label's Bluetooth signal and report its location without requiring carrier participation. Using infrastructure already in place makes it possible to deliver that visibility through a low-cost, single-use label. Shipping teams activate labels with a single tap in the Samsara Shipment App and manage their shipments in the AI-powered Shipment Center. Rather than manually monitoring every shipment, teams can focus on those automatically flagged for attention and respond to weather-related delays, diversions and other disruptions. Each label has a 45-day battery life and contains no lithium or hazardous materials, allowing it to travel by air, ground, or rail and be disposed of without special handling. For DCL Logistics, an early adopter that manages fulfillment and carrier handoffs for high-value cargo, that visibility addresses a longstanding limitation in freight shipping. "I think it's revolutionary for the industry," said Dave Tu, president of DCL Logistics. "The transportation industry is hungry for more data and in more real time. This is something that the world has been asking for and needing and this is the perfect time for Samsara Tracking Label." Samsara recently surpassed $2.1 billion in annual recurring revenue, up 30% year over year. Its platform now collects more than 30 trillion data points annually, fueling AI innovation across physical operations. The TIME honor follows the Tracking Label's inclusion in Fast Company's Next Big Things in Tech for 2026, where it was one of four innovations recognized in transportation, as well as FreightWaves' 2026 AI Excellence in Supply Chain Award. Samsara additionally was named to Fortune's Future 120 this month. View the full list of TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 features at ti.me/best-inventions. Cadent selects Samsara to deliver safety and telematics across 2,800-vehicle fleet.

Cadent selects Samsara to deliver safety and telematics across 2,800-vehicle fleet. * 7 October 2026 * 0 * Natalie Middleton Cadent has selected Samsara as its preferred technology partner for telematics and driver safety. The UK's largest gas distribution network, which also manages the National Gas Emergency Service Line, will deploy the Samsara platform across its fleet of around 2,800 commercial vehicles, following open dialogue with drivers. The rollout will support the company's strategic goals around digitalisation and driver road risk management. Cadent is the essential utility responsible for managing the gas network powering 11 million English homes and businesses. Operating a critical, round-the-clock safety mission, its engineers are on call 24/7 to tackle urgent gas leaks. By responding to emergencies within the hour, they isolate risks, secure properties and keep communities safe. "Our selection of Samsara aligns very closely with our strategic goals," said David Garner, chief of safety, health, engineering & environment at Cadent. "For an essential service such as ours, accurate vehicle tracking is a regulatory necessity, but our primary focus is safety. Crucially, Samsara's technology empowers our engineers to take ownership of their own driving, moving the learning directly to the driver through in-cab alerts and the Driver App, providing them with timely feedback and coaching on their driving behaviours." Cadent is deploying Samsara's advanced safety suite, rolling out AI dashcams and in-cab coaching to protect its drivers on the road. This technology directly supports the company's Safe & Well initiative, ensuring that every colleague returns home safely at the end of each day. Notably, Cadent has rolled out the new technology after open dialogue with its drivers on the best solution to tackle the daily safety risks of driving for work. By prioritising transparent feedback, Cadent worked closely with its teams to implement a solution that works for everyone, transforming how the company addresses occupational driving - the highest-risk activity its engineers face daily. Siamack Mirzaie, area vice president, Samsara, said: "VAN Fleet World is proud to be working with Cadent, an organisation whose mission is to deliver safe and reliable energy that is vital to the UK. "Samsara is designed to provide the real-time visibility and ease-of-use that a mission-critical fleet requires. We are excited to support Cadent's ambition to digitalise its operations, not only by enhancing driver safety but also by streamlining complex processes such as defect reporting to bring huge benefits across the business."
