NVIDIA designs and manufactures graphics processing units (GPUs) and computing platforms used for gaming, data centers, and artificial intelligence. These products work by using parallel processing to handle complex mathematical calculations much faster than standard computer processors, supported by a software ecosystem that allows developers to build and run AI models. Unlike competitors that may focus solely on hardware, NVIDIA integrates its chips with specialized software and cloud services to create a complete environment for high-performance tasks. The company’s goal is to provide the underlying technology necessary to power advanced computing, from realistic video game graphics to autonomous vehicles and large-scale data analysis.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • August 2026 guidance targets $91 billion next quarter, despite zero China data-center revenue.
  • Lancium secures Texas power for Stargate, easing grid bottlenecks quickly.
  • Indosat's Zankore targets 200 megawatts by 2027, extending Nvidia's platform abroad.

What critics are saying

  • Commerce's May 31, 2026 guidance closes overseas-China loopholes, shrinking Nvidia's indirect demand.
  • China is probing Mellanox antitrust compliance; penalties can restrict Nvidia operations.
  • If Washington broadens cloud-access controls, China revenue collapses and Nvidia becomes one-market dependent.

What makes NVIDIA unique

  • Nvidia spans chips, networking, software, and infrastructure financing; competitors sell only accelerators.
  • Blackwell and Rubin keep hyperscalers locked into CUDA and NVLink ecosystems.
  • Lancium and Zankore show Nvidia sells compute plus power access, not hardware.

Nvidia CEO tells investors to 'buy at a discount' as AI stocks drop $1.3T

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told investors to buy AI stocks during a market downturn in early June, calling falling prices a discount opportunity. Speaking in Seoul whilst South Korea's KOSPI index dropped more than 8%, Huang said the AI revolution was just beginning. His remarks came after AI and chip stocks lost roughly $1.3 trillion in combined market value within days. Nvidia shares had fallen over 15% from their May peak. Huang backed his words with action, announcing a multi-year partnership with SK Hynix to co-develop next-generation AI memory chips. Nvidia's fiscal fourth-quarter revenue reached $68.1 billion, up 73% year-over-year. Investors who bought Nvidia shares on 8 June gained 5.1% by early August, slightly outperforming the S&P 500's 4.3% rise.

US oil reserves hit 40-year low as Brent crude rallies 5% and Nvidia launches $500B AI funding push

US crude oil stockpiles in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve have fallen below 300 million barrels for the first time in over 40 years. The reserve dropped by 6.1 million barrels to 298.7 million barrels last week, according to Department of Energy data released Monday. President Trump ordered the release of 172 million barrels in March after Iran disrupted oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz. International benchmark Brent rose around 5% to $87.72 per barrel on Monday, whilst US West Texas Intermediate futures climbed about 5% to close at $82.13 per barrel. Meanwhile, Nvidia announced plans with six asset firms to mobilise over $500 billion in third-party capital for hyperscalers and AI labs. The initiative aims to help customers acquire Nvidia hardware without using their own balance sheets.

Nvidia leads $500B push to make AI compute a Wall Street asset class

Nvidia announced plans to raise over $500 billion with six major financial firms — Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs, and KKR — to finance AI data centres. CEO Jensen Huang is positioning AI compute infrastructure as a new investable asset class. The deals are non-binding memorandums of understanding with no timeline or named projects yet. The $500 billion target represents capital to be raised over time, not Nvidia revenue. The financing model depends on whether AI hardware retains value as it ages. Huang said Nvidia may offer residual-value support for up to 25% of opportunities on a case-by-case basis, though details remain unclear. Each firm will independently assess deals based on customer demand, hardware utilisation, and secondary market value. The approach lets Nvidia expand customer purchasing power without carrying projects on its own balance sheet.

Cathie Wood buys 80,000 Nvidia shares amid AI panic, dumps Roblox after 50% crash

Cathie Wood's Ark Investment Management recently purchased 80,000 Nvidia shares across five funds while reducing its Roblox holdings, despite Wall Street concerns about an AI spending bubble. Nvidia's data center networking revenue surged nearly 200% year over year last quarter, with roughly half now coming from diverse customers beyond major hyperscalers. Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, and Alphabet plan to spend up to $725 billion this year, up 77% annually, with Nvidia positioned to capture 35% to 40% of that spending. Meanwhile, Roblox disappointed with second-quarter bookings rising just 8% year over year at guidance's low end. Management withdrew full-year outlook, and third-quarter bookings guidance points to a 14% to 18% year-over-year decline. The stock has fallen over 50% year to date.

Point2 raises $136M Series B led by LB Investment with Arm and Maverick Silicon for AI data-centre interconnect tech

Point2 Technology has completed an extension of its Series B funding, bringing the total round to $136 million. The latest investment was led by LB Investment, with new strategic participation from Arm and continued support from existing investor Maverick Silicon. The company develops RF-based interconnect solutions for AI data-centre infrastructure. Its investor roster now includes NVIDIA, Arm, UMC Capital, Molex, and Bosch Ventures. Point2 will use the capital to expand its engineering, systems, operations, and business teams. The funding will accelerate commercialisation of its Active RF Cable, near-packaged e-Tube, and co-packaged e-Tube solutions for rack-scale compute systems. The company's e-Tube Technology Platform uses RF signalling over plastic waveguides, addressing interconnect bottlenecks as AI systems scale to terabit-per-second speeds.
