Requirements
- A DOTD certification in Structural, PCCP, Embankment, or another relevant area.
- Two years of experience with roadway or bridge rehabilitation or reconstruction.
- For highway work, experience with some or all of pavement reconstruction, drainage systems, roadway lighting and traffic signals, asphalt pavement milling and paving, utility protection or relocation, pavement markings or striping, and related work.
- For bridge work, experience with several or all of concrete and steel demolition; repair of reinforced concrete and structural steel; steel erection; construction of reinforced concrete decks, retaining walls, or substructure units such as piers and abutments; reconstruction of approach roadways; inspection of Work Zone Traffic Control; and related work.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and special requirements.
- Working knowledge of mathematics and ability to apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to field-measure quantities and calculate completed-work quantities for payment recommendations.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise daily inspection reports documenting work performed, manpower, materials, equipment, measured and calculated quantities, and other pertinent information.
- Operational knowledge of field inspection equipment.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
