Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalency is required.
  • Must hold and maintain certification in sterile processing from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution.
  • Must have at least three years of sterile processing experience and/or experience in a leadership role.
  • Knowledge of sterilization principles, microbiology, and infection prevention practices is required.
  • Knowledge of instrument names, functions, and specialty sets is required.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency is required for documentation and recordkeeping.
Responsibilities
  • Provide operational and technical leadership for the Sterile Processing Department.
  • Ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant reprocessing of surgical instruments and medical devices.
  • Directly supervise Lead Technicians, Sterile Processing Technicians I, II, and III, and Non-Certified Technicians.
  • Coordinate daily workflow.
  • Support staff competency and professional development.
  • Maintain quality assurance measures and productivity expectations.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Provide customer service to perioperative and procedural areas.
  • Support organizational and perioperative goals.
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced certification, including Certified Instrument Specialist, Certified Endoscope Reprocessor, or Certified Healthcare Leader, is preferred.
  • Experience as a preceptor or trainer is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic instrument tracking systems is preferred.
