Requirements
  • An Associate of Arts degree in Biomedical Electronics, or two years of post-secondary education or training emphasizing the sciences and one year of work experience in electronics service, maintenance, and repair, or two years of experience as an Anesthesiology Technician I, Paramedic, Laboratory Technician, or equivalent.
  • Obtain a Washington State medical assistant-phlebotomy certification within the first three months of employment; this certification is required to perform the expected and necessary duties of an Anesthesia Technician.
  • Equivalent education or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except where legal requirements such as a license, certification, or registration apply.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the operating room physician in preparing patients for surgical operations and procedures.
  • Examine patient vital signs, gather data from monitors, and assist physicians in the operation and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and devices.
  • Observe patients post-procedure.
  • Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot anesthesia-related equipment used for patient care and monitoring, including blood pressure monitors, electrocardiograms, electroencephalograms, and clinical analyzers.
  • Obtain blood samples and provide blood parameters to medical staff as directed.
  • Perform low-level and high-level disinfection of all anesthesia equipment.
  • Perform related duties as trained and required to support Anesthesia Services.
Desired Qualifications
  • A strong patient-care background such as emergency medical technician or paramedic training.
