Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of residency and/or fellowship in the area of specialty.
  • Current or recent experience in the area of specialty.
  • MD or DO licensed by the state licensure board within the state of practice.
  • Board certified or board eligible in the area of specialty by the appropriate medical board.
  • Must be able to perform the stated physical and sensory functions, including standing, walking, therapeutic hand movements, lifting, and moving patients with assistance.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and comply with network, departmental, employee, patient, and environmental safety policies.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive, high-quality, cost-effective medical services in practice and hospital settings.
  • Perform history and physical examinations and obtain patient histories.
  • Assess patient health care needs and manage treatment programs based on those assessments.
  • Initiate treatment through prescriptions, diagnostic tests, examinations, and procedures.
  • Review laboratory results and plan actions accordingly.
  • Perform routine health maintenance activities for new and established patients.
  • Adhere to approved standardized orders, evidence-based medicine, and practice guidelines.
  • Communicate regularly and appropriately with referring physicians, patients, and families.
  • Educate patients and families about wellness, prevention, and health care needs.
  • Coordinate patient care, make referrals, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, other professionals, and outside agencies.
  • Coordinate patient care and family counseling with public and mental health agencies when appropriate.
  • Participate in quality, patient satisfaction, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain knowledge of current medical practices and skills.
