About the Job

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, bioanalysis, or biomedical science-related fields with 0–3 years of experience, or at least 5 years of industrial or academic experience with an M.S. degree, or 8 years with a B.S. degree.
  • Demonstrate verbal and technical communication, independent thinking, and the ability to interpret results, determine next steps, and present data.
  • Work effectively in a team-oriented, innovative, and fast-paced environment focused on discovery and development of new drugs for cardiac diseases.
  • Expertise and experience in one or more of the following areas: developing LC-MS-based analytical methods and sample preparation for small-molecule analysis; operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting scientific instrumentation, including general liquid-handling equipment, Thermo Orbitrap Q-Exactive, Exploris 240 HRAMS, and Sciex or Thermo triple-quadrupole mass spectrometers; culturing primary and recombinant cell lines and developing cell-based and in vitro drug-metabolism assays; drug-metabolism assays including metabolic stability assays in liver microsomes and hepatocytes, protein binding, cytochrome P450 inhibition assays, and bioanalysis of PK samples; PK modeling programs such as Phoenix WinNonlin and SimCyp; and DMPK concepts supporting ADME studies.
  • Experience with research databases such as CDD Vault.

Responsibilities

  • Develop in vitro assays and independently generate high-quality data to support drug discovery and development.
  • Perform bioanalysis of structurally diversified small molecules for in vitro assays and develop fit-for-purpose sample-preparation protocols and analytical methods using liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry.
  • Execute, analyze, and interpret in vitro drug-metabolism assays to understand small-molecule ADME properties in support of discovery and development programs.
  • Culture, test, and validate cell or assay systems and maintain laboratory cleanliness.
  • Conduct bioanalysis of pharmacokinetic samples and determine pharmacokinetic parameters.
  • Maintain good documentation practices, including laboratory notebooks, protocols, and report writing; present data in team and project meetings as needed.
  • Maintain and manage research databases, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility.
  • Develop and document assay protocols for chemistry, biology, and DMPK studies.
  • Upload, organize, and quality-check assay data, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience serving as a project representative is a plus.
  • Proficiency in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-end scientific instrumentation, including Thermo Orbitrap Q-Exactive, Exploris 240 HRAMS, and Sciex or Thermo triple-quadrupole mass spectrometers, is highly desired.
  • Experience with pharmacokinetic modeling programs such as Phoenix WinNonlin and SimCyp, and DMPK concepts supporting ADME studies, is a plus.
