Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must have a high school diploma and three years of experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard or U.S. Navy C4I system installation and integration, with U.S. Coast Guard experience preferred.
  • Alternatively, must have U.S. Coast Guard or Navy “C” or “A” school and three years of experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard or U.S. Navy C4I system installation and integration, with U.S. Coast Guard experience preferred.
  • Must have experience fabricating cable assemblies, including multi-pin, radio frequency, network, power, fiber, military-specification, or serial cables.
  • Must understand and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and solid experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Must meet the physical requirements, including bending, stooping, standing, crouching, walking, working beneath false decking, and lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable reference and background check results.
Responsibilities
  • Perform installation, removal, and upgrades for electrical, electronic, and command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance tasks, including wiring terminal boxes, verifying connections, meggering cables, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform system testing to evaluate performance and functionality under supervision.
  • Operate tools to fabricate, install, remove, and upgrade equipment and systems.
  • Use drawings, technical manuals, instructions, standards, and specifications to perform system installation, removal, and upgrade activities.
  • Perform cableway and connector work, fire watch, and confined-space duties under supervision.
  • Read and interpret installation drawings and cable run sheets with assistance.
  • Fabricate connectors by soldering or crimping for navigation, communication, and power equipment.
  • Construct components, subunits, or simple models; adapt standard equipment; and troubleshoot and correct malfunctions when needed.
  • Follow layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and equipment subunits.
  • Lead crews or mentor junior staff under general supervision.
  • Analyze data and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct tests or experiments, make minor modifications to test setups or procedures, select and operate standard test equipment, and record test data.
Desired Qualifications
  • NavSea cableway and/or connector certification is desired but not required.
  • U.S. Coast Guard experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency operating warehouse equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts, is desired but not required.
  • Some special qualifications, such as Fiber Handler, Shipyard Competent Person, or paint sampling, may be beneficial.
