About the job
- A high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited program in Medical Assistant Training, or equivalent experience, are required.
- Basic Life Support training or retraining must be completed during orientation before providing patient care.
- Current Basic Life Support certification must be maintained throughout employment.
- Screen patients and obtain pertinent information.
- Assist the physician or advanced practitioner during patient visits in accordance with age-specific needs.
- Assist the physician or advanced practitioner with all aspects of patient care and communication as instructed.
- Maintain examination rooms and the work environment.
- Provide support to the clinic as needed.
- At least one year of experience in a clinical or physician-office setting, emergency room, or hospital setting providing patient care is preferred.
- Experience with medical offices, insurance, referrals, prior authorizations, hospitals, or computers is preferred.
- Experience in office clerical activities is desirable.
- Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
