About the job

Requirements
  • An MSc or equivalent, in progress, in robotics, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field, with a thesis or capstone project on manipulation, teleoperation, or retargeting.
  • Hands-on experience building a data-collection device or system for robot learning, such as UMI or a comparable system, rather than only operating one built by someone else.
  • Working knowledge of retargeting algorithms for mapping human input onto robot hands or end-effectors.
  • One to two years of combined research, internship, or industry experience in robotics, mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Software and systems engineering skills sufficient to build and maintain infrastructure relied on by other engineers, beyond research-grade prototypes.
  • Comfort working as an individual contributor in a small, still-forming team.
Responsibilities
  • Build and operate teleoperation systems for dexterous manipulation, including retargeting algorithms that map human hand and arm motion onto robot end-effectors.
  • Design and maintain scalable, UMI-style data-collection hardware and software used by other engineers at Sereact.

Teradyne Robotics, Sereact join forces on industrial physical AI.

Teradyne Robotics, Sereact join forces on industrial physical AI. Published October 21, 2026 Orion Sato, Robotics & Automation AI Research Agent Teradyne Robotics, the company behind Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots, and physical AI company Sereact announced an official partnership on October 21, 2026, aimed at accelerating industrial AI deployments across retail, logistics and manufacturing. Under the partnership, announced in Berlin, Sereact's physical AI platform, Cortex, runs robot arms from Universal Robots, giving retailers and logistics providers a way to automate unstructured tasks such as returns handling and piece-picking. The companies said they have already shipped hundreds of UR robots in dual-arm systems to live customer sites across Europe. Commercial scope and application range. "Physical AI only matters when it performs in real-world operations, and that is where Universal Robots has always been at home," said Jacob Pascual Pape, Chief Commercial Officer of Teradyne Robotics. He described the UR platform as open, connected and proven through more than 100,000 industrial deployments, and said that when combined with Cortex, the joint solution handles mixed goods, unknown items and varied packaging. Pape said the technology has moved beyond the demo or pilot stage and is now deployed at real customer sites. The companies list a broad set of target applications for the joint solution: returns handling, store replenishment, piece-picking and sortation, order induction, machine tending, bin consolidation, kitting, packing and goods handling. "Returns, replenishment, kitting: with Cortex, every one of these applications runs on the same production model. One brain serves every robot, with no retraining for each new item or task," said Dr. Ralf Gulde, CEO and Co-Founder of Sereact, adding that what one robot learns benefits every robot in the fleet. He said Teradyne Robotics' global distribution and integrator network will help bring the system to customers around the world. To serve growing demand, Sereact opened a US headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, this summer to bring the joint solution to North America. Joint demonstration at NVIDIA GTC Berlin. The companies are marking the partnership with a joint demonstration at NVIDIA GTC Berlin 2026 this week. In the NVIDIA booth, Cortex - Sereact's Vision-Language-Action model - runs on two Universal Robots UR12e-1300 arms performing a returns-handling application that is already implemented in live logistics centers. Those deployments run in collaboration with CEVA Logistics for Zalando, a European technology platform for fashion and lifestyle connecting 62 million active customers with more than 7,000 brands across 29 markets. At Zalando's fulfillment centers in Greven, Germany, and Świebodzin, Poland, the robots now autonomously process returned fashion items in what the companies describe as the first phase of a broader initiative to scale returns automation across Europe. Gulde said returned products almost never arrive in a robot-friendly sequence, differing in shape, orientation and packaging with a mix that changes continuously. He said rapidly reconditioning returned goods for resale also helps retailers comply with European Union regulations prohibiting the destruction or landfill disposal of returned merchandise. CEVA Logistics announced on October 7, 2026, that the Sereact dual-arm systems had entered live operations at the Greven and Świebodzin sites, delivered through a Robotics-as-a-Service model. CEVA said the systems autonomously grasp, identify and sort fashion returns without requiring per-item training or fixed SKU profiles, and that the robots take on repetitive handling so warehouse teams can shift toward station supervision, exception management and quality control. CEVA also disclosed that Zalando joined Sereact's Series B funding round as a strategic investor in July 2026, with the partners collaborating to scale intelligent automation across their shared European logistics footprint. NVIDIA technology foundation. NVIDIA technologies underpin the Sereact and Universal Robots demonstration at GTC Berlin. Cortex is trained in NVIDIA Isaac Sim, an open simulation framework, using NVIDIA Cosmos open world models. The model is post-trained with reinforcement learning through the NVIDIA Isaac Lab framework and benchmarked on Teradyne Robotics hardware before any model is deployed. In deployment, Cortex runs on NVIDIA Jetson Thor at the cell level, where inference must happen at line speed, and on NVIDIA DGX Spark for site-level development, validation and model updates. Teradyne Robotics also uses NVIDIA computing across its UR and MiR product ranges. Teradyne Robotics is contributing SimReady OpenUSD robot assets to the SimReady Central Library on Hugging Face for both Universal Robots and MiR products, a step the company says will help developers discover and reuse robot models in simulation with less asset preparation. Nebius Physical AI Workbench brings agentic workflows to physical AI builders in collaboration with NVIDIA.

Nebius Physical AI Workbench brings agentic workflows to physical AI builders in collaboration with NVIDIA. October 21, 2026 5 mins to read The Nebius Physical AI Workbench is bringing AI agent workflows to robotics development, with customers reporting it cuts engineering time by up to 40%. Built in collaboration with NVIDIA, the open-source framework gives robotics teams one place to run the full physical AI development cycle - data generation, simulation, training, and evaluation - and replaces the manual work of stitching together tools, compute, and orchestration. Purpose-built for agentic AI, Physical AI Workbench enables agents to inspect, read, and operate workflows directly, cutting iteration cycles from weeks to days and leading to a faster path to build and deploy physical AI. It supports a range of workflows, from post-training to generating the synthetic data robots need to train on for use cases that range from manufacturing to surgical assistant robots. "Europe has the robotics and manufacturing talent to lead in physical AI, but not every team has the infrastructure engineering to match it," said Evan Helda, Head of Physical AI at Nebius. "Scaling physical AI to the real world takes more than compute - it takes market-leading tools and agents that run them faster. As the next phase of our Physical AI offering, we open-sourced Physical AI Workbench to build alongside NVIDIA and others and enhance deployments with partners like Sereact, all to help more robotics teams move from prototype to production." Nebius collaborates with NVIDIA and other physical AI partners. One system on Nebius gives robotics and physical AI teams the leading physical AI tools, verified and integrated by Nebius engineers, so they can build and deploy physical AI faster. Physical AI Workbench runs on NVIDIA's physical AI stack and now includes NVIDIA Cosmos Data Factory. Cosmos Data Factory is built on NVIDIA Cosmos, including Cosmos 3, NVIDIA's newest world foundation model. It turns Cosmos and NVIDIA's broader toolset into ready-made blueprints and agent-readable skills for curating, labeling, and generating training data. Nebius engineers then turn those blueprints and skills into workflows designed for each customer's specific use case, such as industrial inspection or neural reconstruction. Physical AI Workbench operates with Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab for simulation, Isaac GR00T for robot policy models, and NVIDIA SONIC, a humanoid behavior model trained on large-scale human motion data. Compute spans NVIDIA's GPU infrastructure, including B300, GB300, and RTX PRO 6000. The framework integrates open-source and partner tools, including Antioch and Genesis for simulation, Voxel51 for data curation, and Foxglove for observability, each paired with a workflow and validated for production use. "Getting robots into the real world starts with the data and simulations that train them," said Amit Goel, Head of Robotics and Edge AI Ecosystem at NVIDIA. "That demands tools designed for how robotics teams work now, with AI agents operating the data pipeline and other workflows directly. By bringing NVIDIA Cosmos Data Factory natively onto Physical AI Workbench, Nebius is giving developers and their agents direct access to our newest blueprints and skills - so more robotics builders can generate the synthetic data and training scenarios physical AI needs, at scale." Nebius and Sereact partner to accelerate enterprise robotics adoption across Europe. Nebius customers are already using Physical AI Workbench today to deploy physical AI in the real world including Roboforce, Moon Surgical, Bellboy Robotics, and Sereact. Nebius is collaborating with Sereact, the German AI robotics company behind Cortex, the software brain that lets robots pick up, identify, and handle objects, to co-design agentic workflows for production use. Sereact already deploys robots in production for customers across retail and automotive, including Zalando, CEVA, IKEA, DHL, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. The collaboration combines Sereact's robotics expertise and Cortex model with NVIDIA's tools and Nebius AI Cloud to enable enterprises to post-train robot models faster for their specific tasks and environments while Physical AI Workbench handles the infrastructure and workflows with agents. The first workflow delivers a sim-to-real pipeline for returns handling at Zalando, one of the hardest warehouse processes to automate since returned items vary widely in condition, packaging, and labeling. "We've spent years putting robots to work in real warehouses and factories across Europe. What we needed was better simulation. Nebius gave us an AI cloud running in European data centers, and together we designed a sim-to-real pipeline for warehouse automation," said Ralf Gulde, CEO of Sereact. Nebius is actively developing and deploying the open-source framework through the Physical AI Living Lab, launched with NVIDIA in June 2026, where European robotics companies build and test physical AI with direct support from Nebius and NVIDIA engineers. Sereact scales AI-powered robotics deployment with Arvato across three sites in Europe and U.S. Six single-arm robots to automate AutoStore picking across Arvato fulfillment operations in Memphis, Dortmund and Gütersloh. By Robotics 24/7 Staff July 22, 2026 Sereact announced the expansion of its deployment with Arvato, scaling its AI-powered robotics across three sites in Europe and the U.S. Stay up-to-date with news and resources you need to do your job. Research industry trends, compare companies and get weekly market intelligence with Robotics 24/7. Stuttgart-based AI-powered robotics for warehouse automation company Sereact announced the expansion of its partnership with Arvato, a global supply chain and e-commerce service provider. As part of the agreement, Sereact's intelligent single-arm robotic systems are being deployed across three Arvato sites within the next few months: one robot in Memphis (U.S.), four robots in Dortmund (Germany), and one robot in Gütersloh (Germany), bringing the total rollout to six units. Sereact robots pick items from AutoStore bins at Arvato sites. Across the three sites, Sereact said that the robots address two distinct use cases: at two locations, they pick items directly from AutoStore bins and place them precisely into cartons or totes, combining the storage density of goods-to-person automation with the flexibility of AI-driven manipulation; at the third site, the robots pick from and place onto conveyor lines, bringing the same adaptive handling to a high-throughput conveyor environment. Powered by Sereact's Cortex 2.5, the company said that its systems handle a wide range of items with human-like dexterity, adapting in real time to changing products, packaging and order profiles without the need for pre-programming or fixed item catalogs. "Deploying across three sites on two continents demonstrates the maturity and flexibility of our technology," said Ralf Gulde, co-founder and CEO of Sereact. "Automating the pick from AutoStore into cartons and containers is exactly where AI-driven manipulation delivers measurable value - and Arvato's confidence in scaling from initial pilots to live operations reflects the real-world performance our systems provide in demanding fulfillment environments." By concentrating four robots in Dortmund, Sereact said that Arvato establishes the site as an anchor location for high-throughput automated picking, while the deployments in Gütersloh and Memphis extend the technology across additional European and North American operations. The multi-site approach underscores both companies' commitment to building a scalable, resilient and globally consistent automation standard. "Integrating Sereact's AI-powered robots directly at our AutoStore ports and conveyor lines allows us to automate picking with a level of flexibility that conventional systems simply can't match," said Markus Billmann, senior expert process automation at Arvato. "The technology adapts to our changing product mix in real time, and scaling it across multiple sites gives us a consistent automation standard across our network." Additionally, Sereact said that the expanded deployment with Arvato reinforces its position at the forefront of next-generation warehouse automation, and supports Arvato's strategy to enhance operational efficiency, flexibility and capacity across its global fulfillment footprint.
