Considering moving from ConnectWise Automate to ConnectWise RMM? Read this first.

Considering moving from ConnectWise Automate to ConnectWise RMM? Read this first. Work with a specialist to plan a smooth transition. Like many well-established solutions for managed service providers (MSPs), ConnectWise Automate(TM) earned its place in many MSP tech stacks by offering deep control and flexibility. However, over time, what was once a competitive advantage for some can become over-reliance on specific technical expertise, the CW Automate(TM) admin. As businesses mature, environments expand, and service expectations rise, maintaining that level of customization requires constant attention. Scripts lose clear ownership, monitoring logic grows harder to manage, and efficiency starts to erode. When flexibility begins to slow teams down instead of enabling them, or IT teams lose a key technician, the conversation shifts from maintaining what exists to modernizing how work gets done. That shift is why ScreenConnect invested in building ConnectWise RMM(TM). It reflects a modern approach to remote monitoring and management (RMM) designed for today's MSP environments, where operational consistency and unification of tech stacks on a common platform are essential to success at scale. Let's break down how (and why) high-performing MSPs transition from CW Automate to CW RMM(TM). Why MSPs consider moving from CW Automate to CW RMM. This decision to explore CW RMM is rarely about a lack of capability in CW Automate. More often, it's about modernizing the operating model so technicians can spend less time maintaining the RMM environment and more time delivering meaningful client outcomes. ConnectWise RMM has emerged as the next step for many growing MSPs and is recognized as the preferred RMM vendor of the MSP501, reflecting real-world performance in demanding, high-growth environments. Partners that choose to move typically point to three business drivers: 1. Lower operational overhead CW Automate's customizability is powerful, but at scale it often demands ongoing care: script ownership, monitor tuning, multiple servers to support large deployments, and undocumented team insight that can lead to business risk after team changes. With CW RMM, partners have reported being able to reduce the scripts they manage by 50%. CW RMM helps relieve the burden with customizable, expert-designed and maintained policies, alerting, and automation tasks. Your team can build it once, customize just as needed, and ultimately focus on service delivery. 2. Reduced manual effort Some partners have reported saving 10-15 hours per month using ConnectWise Platform(TM) patching. Additionally, alert noise, caused by unimportant alerts from an RMM solution that require technician review but not action, can result in hours spent per week filtering through hundreds of tickets. This is one of the most common ways to burn technician time. CW RMM includes over 1,000+ NOC-maintained intelligent alerts, some with automated remediation included, that can cut alert noise by up to 90%, giving techs a clearer signal on what actually needs action. 3. The CW Platform(TM) advantage As MSPs add project work, security, backup, network, and cloud visibility, the cost of fragmented visibility goes up. CW RMM is built on the CW Platform, which helps deliver a consolidated tech stack, connecting essential tools within a common UI, eliminating duplicated records and work, and providing unified visibility across environments and traditional point-solution tools through consolidated dashboards. Key platform elements, such as shared services, UI, and data, position businesses to support larger deployments, take full advantage of the latest innovations and solutions ConnectWise has to offer, and prepare their teams and workflows to benefit from AI and the future of Predictive IT(TM). How to move from CW Automate to CW RMM in three steps. Modernizing your RMM solution does not mean an immediate cutover or full rebuild. ConnectWise provides a purpose-built, guided experience designed to simplify the transition. The following steps can help your team prepare for a transition to reduce risk and maintain operational continuity. Step 1: Define what modernization means for your business ScreenConnect recommend approaching the modernization opportunity with specific outcomes in mind. What are you most interested in improving? Identifying issues sooner, reducing unnecessary alert noise, simplifying tool management, reducing the reliance on dedicated admins, and standardizing policies are common motivators. It's also helpful to take an inventory of what's working well: which scripts, monitors, integrations, or workflows improve your service delivery. At this point, ScreenConnect encourage skimming the partner feedback and FAQ on its Journey to RMM page. This will help you learn about the experience and compare the solutions. Step 2: Build a transition plan with its team Take the readiness assessment or reach out to its team directly once you're ready to discuss what this move would mean for your business. Its team can help review your existing environment and answer questions, so you feel empowered to make the best decision. You'll ultimately develop a plan together that may include: * A phased rollout by client or capability * Recommended technician training resources on the ConnectWise University(TM) * Modernization milestones and support Step 3: Deploy, validate, and expand at your own pace Through a guided onboarding experience, a software consultant on its team will help ensure that you're set up for success. The integration with CW Automate will help populate companies, sites, and more in your new CW Platform instance. Then, you can begin deploying agents based on your rollout plan and working with your team to validate the setup of essential capabilities, such as monitoring, patching, and remote access. Gather feedback from technicians, test features and integrations, refine policies, and start exploring the reporting available on the CW Platform to build confidence. At this point, you can begin moving operations into the CW Platform. When you're ready to support them through CW RMM, remove the CW Automate agent from the endpoints with a consultant to help ensure you're fully transitioned. What if your MSP is not ready to modernize yet? There is no single timeline that is right for every CW Automate partner. Strengthen your current environment by documenting critical workflows, clarifying script ownership, removing outdated monitors, and deepening your team's CW Automate expertise today. These improvements can deliver value today while helping your organization prepare for future opportunities. Choose the path that fits your business: * Modernize specific, high-value workflows on the CW Platform while using CW Automate: In case you missed it, ScreenConnect recently announced the ability for CW Automate partners to use CW Platform patching at no additional cost! To learn more about this program, check out its "Introducing ConnectWise Platform patching for ConnectWise Automate partners" blog. * Modernize your operations on the CW Platform: Review the Journey to RMM page on the CW University(TM) page to learn more about what the move to CW RMM could mean for your business and get in touch with one of its modernization managers. * Level-up your team's CW Automate expertise: Check out its recent blog on why summer is the perfect time to tune CW Automate! The CW University offers a robust catalog of educational materials designed for CW Automate, including a certification program (currently available to all partners at no additional cost) and a CWAutomate best practices series hosted by its education and partner success teams. For more details, partners can log into the CW University to review the calendar and certifications pages. Ready to modernize your RMM? Current ConnectWise Automate partners can navigate to the Journey to RMM University page to access detailed technical documentation and FAQs, review success stories from other partners, complete a modernization assessment, or reach out to its team directly. by Ryan ahern. ConnectWise opens Australian data centre for x360Recover.

ConnectWise opens Australian data centre for x360Recover. Wed, 26th Aug 2026 (Today) ConnectWise has opened an Australian data centre for its Axcient x360Recover service, extending its business continuity and disaster recovery offering for customers and partners across Asia-Pacific. The new environment lets managed service providers and internal IT teams using x360Recover store backup data in Australia. The option is intended to address data residency and governance requirements while reducing latency for backup and recovery operations in the region. x360Recover supports business continuity and disaster recovery across cloud, hybrid and on-premises environments. It supports both direct-to-cloud and appliance-based deployment, allowing partners to use the same service across different customer setups without changing established recovery workflows. The Australian site is available now to x360Recover partners across the wider APAC market and is SOC 2 Type II certified. The move adds regional infrastructure at a time when managed service providers face tighter scrutiny over where customer data is held, particularly in regulated sectors and among organisations with strict sovereignty requirements. It also reflects demand for recovery systems that can restore operations after ransomware attacks, outages and hardware failures without relying on distant storage locations. Rob D'Amico, SVP, APAC GTM at ConnectWise, said the launch reflects practical needs in the region. "Data residency and recovery confidence are operational requirements for APAC partners, not tick-box features," D'Amico said. "By investing in local x360Recover infrastructure and expanding the product's recovery capabilities, we are helping partners protect customers closer to where their data lives and recover with greater confidence when every minute matters." Product changes Alongside the new data centre, ConnectWise introduced a broader set of updates to x360Recover, including automated backup integrity testing, centralised management across customer environments and hardware-agnostic deployment options. Automated integrity testing is intended to help service providers and IT teams confirm that backed-up systems and data can actually be restored. A successful backup process alone does not prove recovery will work during an incident. The service is designed to scale from individual servers to large estates covering thousands of endpoints. It also offers turnkey hardware for partners that want a ready-to-deploy appliance option, alongside support for other hardware configurations. Another APAC feature is integration with the wider ConnectWise platform, including an Attack-to-Recovery link with ConnectWise SIEM. The aim is to connect security monitoring and recovery tasks more closely so teams can move from incident detection to restoration through a more unified workflow. Partner demand Several local partners said the Australian hosting option could widen the range of customers able to adopt the platform. "Backup and disaster recovery comes down to confidence in the technology, the recovery process, and that we're putting the right solution in front of our clients," said Alexander Slade, CEO of A Corp Computers. "x360Recover has given us that confidence more than any platform we've used over the past 15 years. With an Australian data centre now available, we can bring that same capability to a much broader range of compliance-driven and data-sensitive organisations, without compromising on data sovereignty." Jordan Jilg, Managing Director at Rummage Technical, pointed to the combination of local storage, testing and security links as key factors for service providers handling customer resilience planning. "Customers increasingly expect their provider to think beyond backup and deliver true operational resilience," Jilg said. "With local Australian infrastructure, automated recovery testing, reporting and tighter connections between security and recovery, x360Recover gives us more of what we need to identify risk, validate recoverability and get customers back to business faster when an incident occurs." Regional pressure MSPs and internal IT teams in APAC are dealing with rising pressure to maintain operations during cyber incidents, natural disasters and other disruptions while also meeting regulatory requirements. In that environment, ConnectWise is positioning x360Recover as a single offering for organisations that want to reduce the number of backup tools used across different systems. That approach could appeal to service providers seeking to package backup, recovery and security services together. Internal IT departments may also see it as a way to manage hybrid environments with fewer separate products. The platform is intended to support more consistent recovery readiness across distributed infrastructure. David Raissipour, Chief Product and Technology Officer at ConnectWise, said the company sees resilience and compliance as linked issues for customers in the region. "Across the broader APAC region, MSPs and IT teams are under increasing pressure to keep businesses running through business-disrupting events such as cybersecurity breaches, natural disasters and other disruptions, while meeting stringent regulatory requirements," said David Raissipour, Chief Product and Technology Officer at ConnectWise. "With x360Recover, we're helping partners de-risk those environments by giving them the flexibility to meet a wide range of recovery objectives, minimise downtime and data loss, and maintain business continuity without compromising data residency or compliance. This investment makes it easier to build greater resilience into every environment they protect."

The companies share a belief that MSPs need security capabilities that are advanced enough to address rapidly evolving threats and practical enough to operate across diverse customer environments. Their joint vision is focused on helping MSPs deliver unique value in the AI era by securing AI usage and stopping AI-powered threats, through carefully governed autonomous threat detection, investigation and response that keeps expert human analysts in control. "Our work with ConnectWise reflects a shared commitment to helping MSPs use advanced security technology effectively and at scale. We look forward to continuing that work in the coming quarters in ways that help our mutual partners and their customers confidently and securely embrace their AI advantage."
