Requirements
  • Must be a CVT or board eligible.
  • Veterinary Technician A requires 0–1 year of experience; candidates who are board eligible must sit for boards within 3 months of hire.
  • Veterinary Technician B requires CVT certification and 2–3 years of experience.
  • Veterinary Technician C requires CVT certification and 3–5 years of experience.
  • Veterinary Technician D requires CVT certification and 5–8 years of experience.
  • Veterinary Technician E requires CVT certification and 8 or more years of experience.
  • Must have strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work in multiple areas and handle changes to the daily routine.
  • Must be able to lift more than 20 pounds and kneel and bend frequently for extended periods.
Responsibilities
  • Rotate through all outpatient services to develop knowledge and experience and provide coverage during vacations and busy days.
  • Work in outpatient specialty areas including Ophthalmology, Neurology, Cardiology, Oncology, Primary Care, and Dermatology.
  • Provide additional nursing support to outpatient clinics while rotating through specialty services.
  • Obtain laboratory work on outpatients.
  • Instruct veterinary students and veterinary nursing students on patient care.
  • Triage patients.
  • Assist with discharges, billing, and scheduling.
  • Communicate with clients.
  • Perform venipuncture and place intravenous catheters.
  • Sedate stable patients.
