About the job

Requirements
  • Hold a higher-education qualification in law, such as a Master 2 in business law, compliance, or consumer law, or equivalent.
  • Have 6 to 10 years of compliance experience in a company or law firm, including proven operational experience deploying a Sapin II compliance program.
  • Have experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods; experience with textile product compliance and extended producer responsibility channels is strongly preferred.
  • Have mastery of key regulations, including Sapin II, GDPR, consumer law, duty of vigilance, textile regulations, and product safety.
  • Be able to translate regulations into simple operational processes that non-legal teams can apply.
  • Demonstrate rigor, autonomy, confidentiality, and sound judgment in sensitive situations.
  • Be fluent in English; the work environment is international. A compliance certification is an asset.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor regulations applicable to the business, including consumer, labor, and commercial law; customs; textile regulations; REACH; product safety; labeling; environmental claims; and data protection.
  • Identify regulatory developments that may affect company operations in France, the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, and countries of manufacture and distribution.
  • Inform internal teams about regulatory developments and support their implementation.
  • Ensure products comply with legal requirements for composition, traceability, labeling, safety, and laboratory testing across textile, leather goods, jewelry, lifestyle, and home-decor categories.
  • Work with quality, purchasing, design, product development, and supply-chain teams to ensure product-compliance audits and tests are properly conducted, covering regulated substances, flammability, durability, and children's product safety.
  • Lead the group's Sapin II compliance program, including corruption-risk mapping, code of conduct, internal reporting channels, third-party assessment procedures, and training for exposed employees.
  • Manage whistleblower reports, including receipt, qualification, investigation, and follow-up, while respecting confidentiality and legal deadlines.
  • Deploy and monitor third-party due diligence procedures for suppliers, intermediaries, and international agents.
  • Monitor obligations relating to the duty of vigilance and sustainability reporting under CSRD, in coordination with the CSR and Finance teams.
  • Draft or update internal procedures and product, material, and supplies specifications.
  • Train employees in regulatory and compliance matters across design, production, marketing, supply chain, purchasing, finance, and sales.
  • Support teams in helping suppliers bring products into compliance and meet the company's social and environmental standards.
  • Serve as the operational teams' point of contact for compliance questions and balance regulatory requirements with business realities.
  • Implement prevention plans and maintain the group's compliance-risk map.
  • Track compliance indicators and prepare regular reports.
  • Manage non-compliance matters, including product recalls, customer disputes, and inspections by DGCCRF, AFA, CNIL, or foreign authorities.
  • Coordinate the group's relationships with external counsel on compliance matters.
Desired Qualifications
  • A compliance certification is an asset.
  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods is strongly preferred, ideally with exposure to textile product compliance and extended producer responsibility channels.

About the company

Sézane is a direct-to-consumer French fashion brand offering women's and men's apparel, leather goods, accessories, shoes, and home decor with a Parisian-chic aesthetic. It designs in-house and releases new collections monthly in limited quantities to create desire, while unsold pieces from past lines are sold during Archives twice a year. About 90% of revenue comes from online sales, with Appartements stores providing intimate, home-like shopping experiences. The company differentiates itself by skipping intermediaries, maintaining a global digital-native presence, and combining sustainability (B Corp since 2021, majority eco-friendly materials) with a social program (DEMAIN) to balance growth and responsibility.
