Requirements
  • A valid unrestricted license to practice dentistry in Pennsylvania is required.
  • Evidence of current professional liability insurance is required.
  • Current certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and Basic Life Support is required.
  • Five years of experience in a clinical setting is strongly recommended.
  • The role requires the physical ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push, stoop, bend, reach, and perceive visual and auditory attributes as specified in the posting.
Responsibilities
  • Provide the full range of dental care services to dental patients.
  • Assess patients and determine appropriate treatment based on age-related growth, development, and communication needs.
  • Supervise the day-to-day activities of dental assistants, dental hygienists, and dental residents.
  • Assess staff competencies and assist with performance evaluations.
  • Attend mandated hospital and departmental meetings and functions.
  • Monitor quality of patient care through peer review, medical record quality, laboratory and x-ray usage, pharmaceutical formulary, and drug usage as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient charting in the Dentrix system in compliance with department policy.
  • Foster a positive dental program environment that supports dental residents' learning and development.
  • Evaluate residents' clinical learning process quarterly.
  • Evaluate residents' clinical performance according to established residency-program and Commission on Dental Accreditation standards.
  • Establish positive faculty-resident relationships through effective formal and informal communication.
  • Assume clinical teaching assignments according to dental residency program policy.
  • Implement the program philosophy, conceptual framework, and instructional plan to maintain curriculum integrity.
  • Use current dental research applicable to the teaching area.
  • Participate in activities promoting the dental residency program.
  • Serve as a professional role model for residents and staff.
  • Monitor and comply with infection-control and safety procedures.
  • Suggest improvements to work methods or procedures and participate in the quality-improvement process.
Desired Qualifications
  • A current conscious sedation license for nitrous oxide sedation is desirable.
