The Opportunity
The Flock Safety (Flock) Security organization is a diverse collection of individuals working together to scale Flock’s security, both security of the products themselves and the security features we offer to customers. The team is responsible for several products, including our devices Falcon, Condor, Raven, Wing, and our operating system FlockOS.
The Flock Safety Security organization works with software engineers to design, implement, and operate systems in a manner that protects customers and Flock’s data. It is a multidisciplinary organization that covers product, software, cloud, infrastructure, and operational security concerns. Our organization:
Defines and drives an engaging, exciting security strategy for Flock and our customers
Builds a developer-driven security program where there is tight integration with engineering artifacts, processes, and tooling
Uses software architecture and coding patterns to reduce the impact of security issues
Are the security subject matter experts for our tech stack and products
The Skillset
At least eight years of experience in managing security engineering programs
At least two years of experience leading multiple globally-distributed teams
A proven track record of successfully securing, evolving, and scaling complex systems
Superb written and verbal communication, time management skills, and a growth mindset
The ability to make and evaluate realistic assessments of project complexity
A passion for building technical and leadership skills in others
A strong commitment to building and fostering a diverse and supportive culture that values customer obsession, continuous improvement, and high standards
Experience with either high-scale database or cloud computing environments
A deep sense of ownership, accountability, and pride
Lead one or more globally distributed engineering teams by creating a positive culture, handling career growth and performance conversations, proactively setting vision and direction, and removing blockers
You will take ownership, define strategy, and drive improvement for parts of our program such as fuzzing, threat modeling, secrets management, or container security
Own critical elements of our overall information security program and operate them with excellence
Partner with stakeholders across the business with visibility up to the executive level, as we deliver as a “One Flock” team
Provide feedback on the feasibility, functionality, design, and timeline of new security engineering proposals
Serve as a resource for other engineering teams as they take personal ownership for the security of the systems they own
Hire, mentor and grow strong, high-performing security engineering teams

This serves as a preview of the 90 day plan you will receive if you were to be hired as a Director, Product Security at Flock Safety.
The First 30 Days
Learn about the company’s products, architecture, and current security landscape.
Meet with key stakeholders across engineering, product, and security teams to understand their pain points and priorities.
Review existing security policies, protocols, and incident reports.
Conduct a high-level analysis of the current product security framework.
Identify and address any immediate security vulnerabilities that pose critical risks.
Begin building relationships with key internal teams, fostering collaboration between security and product development.
The First 60 Days
Build a product security roadmap that aligns with company goals and product release cycles.
Initiate a security risk assessment process for new product features or updates.
Enhance security best practices for the product life cycle (e.g., secure coding guidelines, automated testing).
Assess current security team structure and skill sets; recommend necessary changes or training.
Begin streamlining incident response and threat detection workflows within the product security team.
90 Days & Beyond
Implement key elements of the product security strategy, including development and deployment of security tools (e.g., automated scanning, vulnerability management).
Collaborate with engineering to integrate security checks into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring secure product releases.
Establish security performance metrics and KPIs to monitor the effectiveness of the product security program.
Begin planning for long-term initiatives like a security champion program, threat modeling, or third-party audits.
The Interview Process

Our First Chat: During this first conversation, you’ll meet with a recruiter to chat through your background, what you could bring to Flock, what you are looking for in your next role, and who we are.
The Hiring Manager Interview: You will meet with your potential future boss to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field.
The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.
The Executive Review: A chance to meet an executive and view Flock from a different lens. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.

💰Salary & Equity: In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary of $195,000-$260,000 as well as stock options
