Requirements
  • Two to five years of experience working in athletic equipment, specifically in a football equipment room.
  • Experience with staff supervision, Human Resources practices, confidentiality, organizational workflow, delegation, training programs, and work evaluation.
  • Ability to work independently, follow through on assignments with minimal direction, and prioritize assignments in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding and demonstrated compliance with departmental, University, Big Ten, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of equipment and apparel maintenance and repair techniques according to manufacturer specifications and NCAA requirements.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and communicate effectively with staff members, students, administrators, University personnel, and the public.
  • Skill in organizing materials, people, and information systematically to optimize efficiency.
  • Strong oral and written interpersonal and communication skills, including relationship-building across campus and externally.
  • Writing skills to prepare forms, reports, and correspondence with speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to operate a computer with experience in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Windows.
  • Understanding of organizational goals and ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively as a team member.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic work environment, including nights, weekends, odd hours, holidays, and changing conditions.
  • Understanding of budgets and budget management, including preparing, maintaining, and closing annual budgets and following accounting and procurement guidelines.
  • Skill in implementing and monitoring a quality-control and inventory program sufficient to meet established specifications.
  • Working knowledge of the methods, tools, equipment, and materials of the trade sufficient to organize work, evaluate progress, and ensure assignments meet stated standards.
  • Valid California noncommercial Class C driver's license upon hire and maintenance of the license.
  • Athletic Equipment Managers Association certification upon hire or within one year of hire.
  • Satisfactory background investigation, Live Scan background check, and driving record required for continued employment.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% for team activities, competitions, and meetings.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with overall management and supervision of the equipment and apparel needs for the UCLA Football program.
  • Perform hands-on football equipment room operations for approximately 120 student-athletes, 11 coaches, and approximately 44 support staff.
  • Supervise student managers and monitor and distribute equipment and apparel.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Football Equipment on inventory tracking, locker room maintenance, facility upkeep, and the safety of team-issued gear and practice and training items.
  • Oversee staff-issued apparel.
  • Serve as a secondary contact for setup of on- and off-campus team practices.
  • Coordinate timely and efficient transportation of athletic equipment, uniforms, and apparel to home and away athletic contests and potential off-site training camps.
  • Recruit student managers and assist with recruiting events and camp operational needs.
  • Provide daily laundry services to meet team needs.
