About the job
- A minimum of 3 years of laboratory management operations experience in genomics, next-generation sequencing, molecular biology, or related areas.
- A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related field.
- Excellent organizational, computer, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent leadership and people skills, including a highly developed teamwork mentality.
- Strong background in nucleic acid handling, including sample quality control, polymerase chain reaction, DNA and RNA library preparation, next-generation sequencing technologies, and instrument operation, setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Background and experience in laboratory management.
- Ability to meticulously follow, maintain, and revise laboratory procedures and protocols as necessary.
- Ability to take charge and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong desire to be a reliable and hands-on go-to person for laboratory operations.
- Train and supervise research technicians and laboratory associates.
- Oversee instrument setup, run monitoring, troubleshooting, protocol writing, and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Receive, organize, and manage customer samples, including sample database management, logging, and tracking.
- Maintain accurate records for sample preparation and report data.
- Order, monitor, and track reagent inventory for the research and development and service teams.
- Monitor and respond to facilities operations needs.
- Serve as the point of contact for vendors and suppliers, and interact and negotiate with them.
- Maintain the company safety program.
