  • At least five years in a people-management role, leading and developing teams across multiple locations, including onshore and offshore or outsourced staff, with direct accountability for performance and day-to-day service delivery.
  • A demonstrated track record of running a high-volume accounts payable and/or travel-and-expense function with measurable improvements in timeliness, accuracy, and control.
  • Experience modernizing or automating finance operations, such as accounts payable automation, expense platforms, or enterprise resource planning and spend-management systems such as Workday, Concur, Coupa, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Strong command of internal controls, the Sarbanes-Oxley framework, and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including the ability to translate spend data into actionable insight, for example by leveraging artificial intelligence or enterprise performance management tools such as Anaplan, Adaptive, or Pigment.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and comfort with data and automation tools.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end accounts payable operations, ensuring payments are accurate, timely, and policy compliant.
  • Manage recurring spend, identify gaps in expected payments, and proactively contact cost center owners and vendors to ensure invoices are received on time.
  • Maintain accurate vendor master data, including banking details and tax documentation.
  • Oversee the corporate card and travel-and-expense program, including expense report review, timely reimbursements, and resolution of escalated issues.
  • Design, document, and enforce accounts payable and expense policies, approval matrices, and spend controls.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment aligned with the Sarbanes-Oxley framework and the firm’s record-retention obligations, and partner with internal and external audit.
  • Lead a data and analytics program to detect anomalies, fraud, and out-of-policy spend through automated controls and exception monitoring.
  • Provide controller and tax teams with reporting to support applicable tax and regulatory requirements, including 1099, sales and use tax, and Internal Revenue Service accountable-plan substantiation.
  • Modernize and automate the procure-to-pay and travel-and-expense technology stack to reduce manual processing, cycle times, and cost per invoice.
  • Assist with platform selection and implementation, including requests for proposals, vendor evaluation, and rollout for accounts payable, expense, and spend-management tools, ensuring alignment with operational requirements.
  • Build spend visibility through key performance indicator dashboards, aging and exception reporting, and vendor and category spend analytics.
  • Identify and execute continuous-improvement initiatives that increase straight-through processing and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the spend operations team across onshore and offshore locations, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Manage day-to-day delivery across distributed onshore and offshore teams, ensuring consistent service levels, clear handoffs, and accountability across time zones.
  • Communicate function performance, risks, and the transformation roadmap to senior Finance leadership.

Desired Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications, such as Certified Public Accountant, Accredited Payables Professional or Certified Accounts Payable Professional, or Lean/Six Sigma certification.
