About the job
- At least two years of commercial door or dock work experience, two years of new-construction commercial estimating experience, or two years in the building-materials industry; the posting also describes building-materials experience as strongly preferred.
- Experience with blueprints, plans, and specifications is highly desired.
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills are required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and excellent customer-service skills are required.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Strong language, written, and mathematical skills are required.
- Successful completion of employment verifications, a background check, a drug screen, and a driving-record check if applicable is required before hire.
- Develop or possess advanced skills in the company's estimating processes and procedures, estimating software, and other business software, including Excel, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, BAAN, and SAM.
- Develop or possess advanced knowledge of door- and dock-related products, including their functionality, special features, usage options, and pricing variations based on job needs.
- Develop an understanding of core product lines, vendors, and labor standards.
- Educate the sales team about product options and assist customers in product selection to support the sale and achieve the best project outcome.
- Generate accurate project cost estimates and bids.
- Estimate advanced and complex projects of limited size and write proposals clearly and concisely for manager review and approval before customer review.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Knowledge or experience in the construction or building-materials industry is strongly preferred.
- Experience with blueprints, plans, and specifications is highly desired.
