- A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required.
- A medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution or a community college course in medical assisting is required.
- An appropriate certificate indicating a passing grade for the specific specialty is required when working in a specialty department.
- At least one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant or documented evidence of an externship completed in a medical office is required.
- Current experience with electrocardiograms, vital signs, venipuncture, capillary procedures, and injections is required.
- The employee must be able to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
- The employee should have thorough knowledge of computer information systems.
- The employee must frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
- The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
- Perform assigned patient-care duties, including organizing patient flow, assisting with mobility and examinations, collecting patient histories and specimens, performing screenings, assisting physicians and nurses with procedures, charting, relaying instructions, answering calls, and providing information.
- Perform assigned clerical duties, including sending and receiving medical records, obtaining reports and referral information, completing forms, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance and demographics, and maintaining charts.
- Set up instruments and equipment, clean examination rooms and equipment between visits, maintain sterilizers and records, order and store supplies, and restock examination rooms.
- Respect and promote patient rights, respond appropriately to emergency codes, and report patient or staff problems to the immediate supervisor.
- Perform clinical medical-assisting duties permitted by state law, including asepsis, sterilization, instrument wrapping and autoclaving, vital-sign checks, examination preparation, medication administration, prescription verification, minor-surgery assistance, dressing application, suture removal, biohazard disposal, therapeutic modalities, patient instruction, laboratory procedures, quality control, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments-waived testing, capillary punctures, venipunctures, specimen handling, electrocardiography, emergency triage, and first aid.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Use standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
- Travel primarily locally during the business day, with some out-of-area and overnight travel potentially required.

Coggins joins from McKesson Corporation, where he served as Senior Vice President, Strategy and Operations. In his previous role, he developed strategy for McKesson's U.S. Oncology Network and launched the company's first fintech offering for community practices. The appointment coincides with a leadership change for Mandy Lawrence, who transitions from Coggins' predecessor to the newly created position of Chief Experience Officer. Lawrence will focus on improving patient care coordination across the network. U.S. Urology Partners partners with independent, community-based urology practices.
New Jersey Urology has appointed Dr Chidebelu Ufodike as chief operating officer. Dr Ufodike brings over 25 years of healthcare operations experience to the role. New Jersey Urology operates more than 20 locations across central and southern New Jersey, providing urology and cancer care services. The practice is an affiliate of U.S. Urology Partners, which is backed by General Atlantic. Dr Ufodike previously served as vice president of pharmacy inventory management and working capital at Walgreens Boots Alliance, overseeing operations across more than 8,000 locations and managing over $75 billion in pharmacy inventory. He also led the operational integration of 1,934 acquired Rite Aid locations representing approximately $19 billion in revenue. Dr Ufodike holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Howard University.
