Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The candidate must be able to pass a background check.
  • An Alaska driver's license is preferred.
  • The candidate must complete the mandatory coaching and activity adviser staff trainings on or before the first contract day.
Responsibilities
  • Communicate with participants, parents, and administrators.
  • Follow safety procedures and applicable NSBSD and activity policies and guidelines.
  • Review the Coaches’ and Parent and Student Handbooks annually.
  • Prioritize student welfare in decision-making.
  • Coordinate performance times and dates with the principal.
  • Maintain an athlete roster and attendance records and submit them to the principal for possible 0.25 physical education credit.
  • Coordinate with the JOM grant manager regarding criteria for attending Anchorage.
  • Complete Native Youth Olympics registration during the early registration period.
  • Administer the post-attendance survey to students when traveling to Anchorage.
  • Submit travel paperwork at least 15 days before travel and upon returning from the trip.
  • Follow Native Village JOM grant manager procedures when traveling from Barrow or Point Hope.
