Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience with Assembler Language programming and Job Control Language.
  • Experience with IBM z/OS, Time Sharing Option/Interactive System Productivity Facility, System Display and Search Facility, Endevor, and File Transfer Protocol/Secure File Transfer Protocol or mainframe file transfers.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using IBM Debug Tool, File Manager, and System Display and Search Facility.
  • Understanding of Queued Sequential Access Method access methods.
  • Must be a United States citizen and have an active Internal Revenue Service MBI clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance legacy mainframe applications supporting Internal Revenue Service tax processing, compliance, and data management systems.
  • Write, test, and troubleshoot programs using Assembler, Job Control Language, and related IBM z/OS utilities.
  • Monitor and manage batch jobs through System Display and Search Facility and other system tools to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Debug and resolve production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and ensure system stability.
  • Manage code changes and version control using Endevor in compliance with Internal Revenue Service change management procedures.
  • Transfer and integrate data across systems using File Transfer Protocol/Secure File Transfer Protocol and other mainframe file management tools.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to analyze requirements, design solutions, and implement enhancements.
  • Document system specifications, program logic, and procedures to support maintenance and knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure compliance with Internal Revenue Service security and data-integrity standards, participating in audits and reviews as needed.
  • Contribute to modernization efforts by supporting integration of legacy systems with emerging technologies and improving overall system performance.

  • Experience with Social Security Administration, SSAE, SSAF, or Integrated Data Retrieval System applications.
