Full-timeDetroit, MI, USANo salary listedIn-person

About the Job

Requirements

  • Have led a team whose output was consumed by other engineering teams, such as a shared capability, tool, or platform, rather than a single application or operational function.
  • Have engineering leadership experience managing technical teams, including hiring, developing engineers, and setting technical direction.
  • Have strong technical depth in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or software delivery sufficient to challenge architecture and earn credibility with senior engineers.
  • Have hands-on coding ability, including writing and reviewing code and reasoning through codebase problems alongside engineers.
  • Have a credible, practical understanding of modern production AI, including large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, agents, model application programming interfaces, evaluation, lifecycle management, governance, and cost.
  • Be able to create clarity in ambiguous spaces by establishing ownership, driving work through completion, and demonstrating measurable outcomes.
  • Be able to explain complex technical tradeoffs to engineers, security partners, product teams, and executives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team responsible for AI enablement, developer tooling, and reusable accelerators for Servicing Technology.
  • Review code, prototype, and work directly with AI-assisted development while setting the engineering quality bar by example.
  • Build internal tools, automation, workflows, and reference implementations that reduce friction and measurably improve engineering productivity across Servicing teams.
  • Drive adoption of AI capabilities through shared patterns, evaluation, experimentation support, and production-readiness guidance so teams can ship AI-powered software confidently.
  • Improve observability, resilience, incident learning, and automation, and reduce operational toil across Servicing Technology.
  • Turn ambiguous problems into clear ownership, decisions, and measurable outcomes, partnering with engineering, security, product, and senior leadership to align on AI strategy and infrastructure investment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Have built or led developer tooling, shared engineering capabilities, or developer productivity programs at scale.
  • Have productionized AI or large language model capabilities, or led AI enablement initiatives across multiple engineering teams.
  • Have driven measurable adoption of a shared capability across multiple teams, beyond simply delivering it.
  • Have awareness of how the wider industry is solving these problems and a track record of thoughtfully adapting proven practices; contributions to the broader engineering community through open source, writing, speaking, or standards are a plus.
  • Experience with agent frameworks, AI evaluation and tracing, model routing or inference-cost optimization, and AI security, governance, and safety practices is useful but not required.
