Requirements
  • A valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Responsibilities
  • Organize the execution of all tasks aboard the vessel and serve in a leadership role within the crew.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of the vessel crew.
  • Inspect towing gear and lifesaving equipment, and instruct crew to repair or replace defective equipment.
  • Direct crew activities involved in rigging towlines to barges or ships to be towed.
  • Maintain accountability, welfare, and discipline of deckhands and assigned equipment.
  • Assist in preparing, training, and leading newly assigned deckhands, and make performance recommendations to the Wheelhouse Manager.
  • Ensure the timely submission and review of reports, forms, and other documents required by management.
  • Coordinate with company customers at various terminals and contracted employees to achieve the desired outcome.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Wheelhouse Manager.
