What We Are Looking For
As an AI Strategist, you will be the project lead for customer engagements. In collaboration with a technical lead, you’ll drive a motivated team of engineers and researchers focused on solving our customers’ most critical problems. Your mission is to own business outcomes, ensure that the project team creates value for the customer, and earn customer trust. You will be responsible for the entire customer engagement from start to finish.
In a typical engagement, you will begin by understanding customer problems and desired outcomes. With this context, you will embed yourself in the complex workflows of our customers, to identify opportunities where AI can solve pain points. After scoping a meaningful project, you will lead your team to ensure that we deliver a system with high quality and model accuracy. Because we care about driving real value, your engagement doesn’t stop with delivery of the system - you are also responsible for driving user adoption and iterating to make sure this product is valuable to the end user.
This role requires a curious and analytical approach, the ability to identify valuable problems to solve, strong intuition for product development, and a deep commitment to customer success.
Key Responsibilities:
Earn Customer Trust: Demonstrate customer empathy and be the face of Distyl, managing relationships from end-users to executive stakeholders.
End-to-end Workflow & Outcome Ownership: Identify the most valuable problems to solve. Embed yourself in the customer’s workflow to understand it better than the users themselves. Ensure high accuracy and reliability to achieve the desired outcomes. Take ownership and accountability for the success of the customer engagement.
Leadership: You and a technical lead will be jointly responsible for leading a team to deliver results to the customer.
Data Analysis: Navigate noisy enterprise data to identify how AI can create reliable outcomes despite real-world constraints.
User Adoption: Onboard users to our enterprise applications and platform, ensuring they realize value.
Product Feedback: Represent the customer’s voice, surfacing pain points that drive future product improvements.
What We Require:
Operational Experience: A proven record in managing complex projects or strategic leadership roles, with demonstrable experience in client-facing positions within AI or technology integration.
Exceptional Communication Skills: Capable of earning customer trust and liaising effectively between clients and internal teams.
User Empathy and Customer Focus: A deep sense of user empathy and a customer-obsessed approach, ensuring solutions are technically sound and aligned with customer needs.
Thrive in Ambiguity: Ability to identify critical problems in complex situations, define outcomes, and create structure among competing priorities.
AI Passion: A passion for AI and optimism about its potential to impact the world.
Coding Experience: Proficiency in programming, scripting, or statistical packages (e.g., Python, R, Matlab, SQL).
Travel: Ability to travel 25-75%, varying by team.
What We Offer:
Competitive salary and benefits package, including equity options and healthcare.
Be part of a mission-oriented company to create practical adoption during the biggest revolution in human productivity.
Opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI technologies and make a real impact on the adoption of LLMs in the enterprise space.
Collaborative and supportive work environment, with a strong focus on personal and professional growth.
Exposure to a diverse range of real-world industries and projects, providing unique challenges and learning opportunities.
Interview Process:
Screening Call: You’ll be invited to a screening call and perform a business decomposition exercise.
Team Meetings: Meet with members of the team to discuss your background, goals, and complete an analytical coding screen.
Final Interview: Meet with our CEO.
Note: Distyl is a hybrid working environment and requires in office collaboration 3 days a week. We have offices in San Francisco, CA and New York, NY, and this role is available in either location.
