Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or an associate's degree and two years of relevant experience, or three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Prior clinical and/or research experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Typing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to perform the job duties with or without accommodation.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and implementing research protocols, including subject screening and enrollment, study appointment scheduling, protocol inquiries, research data and specimen collection and maintenance, and research data analysis.
  • Attend meetings pertaining to research activities.
  • Assist in preparing new protocols for Institutional Review Board submission.
  • Assist with manuscript development and format manuscripts for specific journal requirements.
  • Develop electronic data capture systems.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting grant proposals.
  • Work with the laboratory on specimen collection and processing and on the development and implementation of lab model systems.
  • Assist in developing research questions and projects, conducting literature reviews, determining appropriate methods, and preparing protocols.
  • Ensure studies conform to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Good Clinical Practice, and Institutional Review Board requirements.
  • Prepare Institutional Review Board forms and electronic documentation, oversee electronic Institutional Review Board submissions, and maintain study source and regulatory documents.
  • Schedule patients and ensure study timelines are followed.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze research data; create standard operating procedures and data-collection forms; coordinate recruitment, scheduling, and testing of research subjects; conduct chart reviews; query databases; manage and clean data; and conduct statistical analyses.
  • Attend grand rounds and conferences.
  • Prepare project status reports and send updates.
  • Assist with training new research staff and mentor School of Medicine students and volunteers according to departmental standard operating procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of a statistics course.
  • Prior research experience.
  • Experience with research electronic data capture systems.
  • Knowledge of orthopaedic and oncology research.
  • Knowledge of the Institutional Review Board process and familiarity with basic statistics.
  • Prior database management experience.
  • Exceptional computer skills and ability to learn new software.
  • Knowledge of Epic.
