Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a United States Government clearance, which requires United States citizenship.
  • Demonstrated background in the design, development, and deployment of space-based active or passive radio frequency systems, including direct experience with radiation hardening, thermal management, power budgeting, and long-duration reliability constraints.
  • Proven background designing and developing complete end-to-end radio frequency systems, including radio frequency front ends and digital subsystems, across communications, electronic warfare, radar, and sensing domains.
  • Extensive experience designing and developing complex software-defined radio systems, including modern transceiver architectures and field-programmable gate array/system-on-chip platforms.
  • A strong track record designing and developing complex digital signal processing and radio frequency machine learning algorithms, with the ability to apply modern compute and artificial intelligence/machine learning techniques to traditional radio frequency problems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary hardware, software, radio frequency, field-programmable gate array, and artificial intelligence/machine learning engineering teams through advanced research and development programs from white paper to prototype to deployment.
  • Demonstrated background fielding capability in one or more spectrum dominance domains, including signals intelligence, electronic warfare, or radar.
  • Familiarity with the challenges of government research and development contracting and experience delivering technical milestones for customers such as DARPA, ONR, AFRL, NRO, or the Space Force.
  • Proven proposal development experience, including contributing to technical volumes and cost estimates for complex government solicitations.
Responsibilities
  • Define and drive the technical roadmap for Voyager’s Spectrum Dominance portfolio, serving as the senior technical authority for radio frequency, electronic warfare, radar, and sensing programs, with emphasis on space-based active and passive radio frequency systems.
  • Set the strategic direction for applying Agentic Computational Engineering to radio frequency hardware design, digital signal processing algorithm development, and end-to-end radio frequency system integration.
  • Own the vision for applying artificial intelligence agents across the radio frequency hardware design lifecycle, from generative antenna and front-end design through automated digital signal processing algorithm synthesis and simulation-in-the-loop optimization.
  • Lead and oversee deployment of Voyager’s Agentic Computational Engineering platform for radio frequency applications so that artificial intelligence agents can autonomously design, simulate, evaluate, and optimize radio frequency hardware and digital signal processing subsystems.
  • Direct development of domain-specific artificial intelligence agents for electromagnetic simulation, transceiver architecture exploration, waveform design, interference analysis, and signal-chain optimization.
  • Partner with the Agentic Computational Engineering platform team to define requirements for agent orchestration, physics-simulation integration, and design-for-manufacturing constraints for space-qualified radio frequency hardware.
  • Establish automated simulation loops between radio frequency/digital signal processing design agents and high-fidelity physics solvers for meshing, solving, and post-processing antenna patterns, radar cross-section analysis, link budgets, and spectral performance.
  • Drive adoption of artificial-intelligence-first workflows across the radio frequency engineering organization for documentation, design review, test planning, and compliance verification.
  • Lead complex, high-stakes research and development programs for next-generation space-based and terrestrial radio frequency systems, managing technical risks and delivering solutions on schedule.
  • Oversee the design, analysis, and testing of advanced radio frequency systems, including satellite communications payloads, space-based signals intelligence/electronic intelligence collectors, synthetic aperture radar, and passive radio frequency sensing architectures.
  • Architect complete radio frequency systems bridging digital signal processing algorithms, software-defined radio hardware, field-programmable gate array/system-on-chip platforms, and high-level mission software across space and ground segments.
  • Define architectures for space-based radio frequency payloads that address radiation tolerance, thermal management, power budgets, size and weight limitations, and long-duration mission reliability.
  • Guide technologies from Technology Readiness Level 3–6 research efforts into productized solutions ready for manufacturing and deployment, working with product and business teams on commercialization strategies.
  • Use the Generative Engine to rapidly iterate on design variants and manufacturing-ready configurations to accelerate productization.
  • Build, grow, and lead a multidisciplinary engineering team spanning radio frequency hardware, digital signal processing, and artificial-intelligence-enabled design disciplines.
  • Mentor senior engineers and researchers and foster technical rigor, creativity, and rapid iteration.
  • Partner with business development and capture teams to shape opportunities and provide technical grounding for government contract pursuits.
  • Collaborate with the Agentic Computational Engineering platform, propulsion, electronics, and manufacturing domain teams to integrate radio-frequency-specific capabilities with the broader Generative Engine ecosystem.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • An active United States Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance.
  • Direct experience with space-based radio frequency payload programs for Department of Defense or Intelligence Community customers, including design, integration, test, and on-orbit operations.
  • Experience with or strong interest in artificial-intelligence-driven engineering workflows, including agentic artificial intelligence systems, large language model-based design tools, automated simulation frameworks, or generative design platforms.
  • Familiarity with agent orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen, or custom agent runtimes, and understanding of multi-agent applications to hardware design.
  • Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, CST, FEKO, or equivalent, and a vision for automating simulation-driven radio frequency design with artificial intelligence agents.
  • Experience productizing advanced research and development into monetizable commercial offerings, including turning science projects into shipped products.
  • A demonstrated history of leading winning proposals for space-based radio frequency programs.
  • Background in orbit-specific radio frequency considerations, including Doppler compensation, atmospheric propagation effects, space-to-ground link budgets, anti-jam architectures, and low-probability-of-intercept waveforms.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to customer sites, test ranges, and Voyager locations.
