Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required, although experience may offset this requirement.
  • At least 1 year of application experience is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to meet the company's Motor Vehicle Review requirements.
  • The required state commercial applicator certification must be obtained and maintained.
  • A minimum of an Agricultural Commercial Driver's License is required.
  • Applicants must be able to read, count, and write accurately; understand shipping and applicator orders, tickets, product labels, Safety Data Sheets, warning signs, and emergency procedures; and accurately locate application sites and read field maps.
  • Applicants must be familiar with crop chemicals, farming practices, crop characteristics, and weed identification.
  • Applicants must be able to work required overtime as seasonal demands require.
  • Applicants must regularly lift more than 50 pounds, climb ladders, perform preventive maintenance, and walk, stand, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, handle, feel, and grasp.
Responsibilities
  • Apply crop protection and fertilizer products safely, accurately, and efficiently to labeled crops and sites.
  • Use application-equipment information and technology to apply the correct products at the correct rates and bill them to the correct fields and customers.
  • Assist with mixing, loading, unloading, and transporting crop protection and fertilizer products.
  • Follow all applicable laws, regulations, safety rules, personal protective equipment requirements, and chemical-storage procedures.
  • Inspect application equipment before and after field applications.
  • Maintain safety equipment in the applicator equipment and immediate work area.
  • Maintain accurate applicator and equipment logs.
  • Perform equipment calibration and preventive maintenance according to the recommended program.
  • Follow regulatory guidelines for tank mixing, rinsing, and washing down equipment in the field and at the location.
  • Assist team members with physical duties required to operate an agricultural location.
  • Assist with operational scouting, product transportation, and other customer services.
  • Follow Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and Department of Transportation policies and procedures.
  • Apply correct labeling, decals, and Department of Transportation numbers to equipment and tanks.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships through quality product application and provide customers and the location manager with feedback about field conditions.
  • Adhere to the company's environmental health and safety policies and training.
  • Potentially serve as the location Safety Coordinator.
  • Maintain and operate company equipment used for product applications.
Desired Qualifications
  • Basic mechanical skills for daily equipment maintenance are preferred.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing application technologies and seasonal variations in workload responsibilities is desired.
