The Team:

We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to join our Data team in New York City, NY. Your role will include a combination of developing models and tools to be deployed into production systems and defining frameworks to measure and improve data quality standards. This is an IC position, but will require you to collaborate with our Data team as well as with various technical and nontechnical team across our organization. Your work will directly impact the future of our Music and Film & TV products. 

The Role:

• Take technical ownership and work as a technical leader for one or multiple data science projects
• Lead the design, development, and delivery of machine learning enabled solutions to address critical business questions
• Create predictive models using the latest machine learning algorithms on big data
• Implement, run, test, and deploy such models into production
• Leverage various data science methods such as machine learning, statistical modeling, and causal inference to understand user behavior and help optimize and drive product improvements and feature prioritization
• Independently utilize large data sets to uncover, size, and advocate for DS/ML opportunities that improve the experience for customers and internal teams
• Solving opaque, unstructured problems by developing core DS/ML frameworks that shape the company’s approach to data
• Define, evaluate, and monitor key metrics, understanding the root causes of changes, and feeding them back to business stakeholders to action on.
• Present ideas and results, including translating business objectives to DS/ML problems and vice versa
• Make Luminate an even better place to work by increasing data literacy and expertise through collaboration, development of DS/ML best practices, and documentation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Sales, Research, Marketing, and more. 

Who you are:

• Masters degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields (preferred)
• 7+ years of experience developing production-level predictive or Machine Learning models.
• Prior experience deploying various models into production
• Strong programming skills in Python
• Ability to work independently with minimal Engineering support.
• Strong storytelling and communication skills to both technical and nontechnical team members

We would be over the moon if you have experience or skills specifically in:

• • Hands on work at a startup creating, implementing, and deploying models into production
  • Big data experience specifically in entertainment
  • PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields.
  • Familiar with modern data platforms. The tools we use include AWS, Snowflake, dbt, and more.
  • Prior work in a startup or entertainment environment (music, tv, film, podcast, gaming, or entertainment tech)

For candidates based in NYC: Our base salary range for this position will be either $140,000 - 170,000 (Lead Data Scientist) or $180,000 - 203,000 (Lead Data Scientist II). We consider your skills and experience, what similar jobs pay at companies of our size, and ensure fair pay among colleagues. Final base salary offer amounts are determined by factors including your experience, skills, and expertise.
