- A minimum of 5+ years of progressive operational experience in both drinking water and wastewater systems.
- Demonstrated experience operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining water and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and reporting requirements.
- Experience with compliance monitoring, process control, laboratory interpretation, and operational reporting.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting aptitude.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence.
- Valid Ontario Wastewater Operator Certification.
- Valid Ontario Drinking Water Operator Certification (OIT, LSW, Level I, or higher); LSW and OIT licences are acceptable for the water systems currently operated under this role.
- Entry-level candidates with no prior operating experience will not be considered for this position.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain private water treatment, distribution, wastewater treatment, and collection systems.
- Ensure facilities remain compliant with all applicable MECP regulations and approvals.
- Monitor treatment processes and make operational adjustments to optimize performance.
- Conduct compliance sampling, testing, inspections, and process monitoring.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process issues.
- Complete operational records and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Monitor and respond to SCADA alarms and notifications.
- Participate in on-call coverage and emergency response activities.
- Provide mentorship and technical support to junior operators.
- Experience operating private communal water and wastewater systems.
- SCADA and remote monitoring experience.
- Experience supporting multiple sites and geographically dispersed facilities.
- Leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience.
