About the Job

Requirements

  • Practical experience in specification study, design, verification, or performance evaluation in at least one of the following areas: CPU (processor cores, exception or interrupt control, etc.); cache mechanisms (cache hierarchy, coherency, memory consistency, etc.); or memory peripherals (interconnect, memory control, memory interfaces, etc.).
  • Experience organizing design policies and technical issues based on requirements and sharing them with relevant stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the logical design and verification process, with experience actively participating in design reviews and technical discussions.
  • Ability to collaborate with teams and related IP owners and contribute to technical consensus-building.
  • Willingness to participate in technical meetings and specification reviews in English.

Responsibilities

  • Develop specifications and consider architecture for CPU subsystems in automotive SoCs (R-Car series).
  • Organize and consider design policies for assigned areas within the CPU subsystem, including CPU, cache mechanisms (L1/L2/L3 and cache coherency), and memory peripherals, while optimizing the subsystem as a whole.
  • Help advance development by organizing technical issues and contributing to design decisions during logical design and verification.
  • Make technical assessments and decisions that account for power, performance, and reliability constraints and alignment with the overall SoC.
  • Communicate technically with IP vendors about introduced IP, including confirming specifications and organizing constraints.
  • Drive global development in English in coordination with design centers in India and Vietnam and with IP vendors.

Desired Qualifications

  • Technical coordination or leadership experience at the subsystem or IP level.
  • Experience with multicore CPUs or cache-coherency control.
  • SoC integration experience involving CPUs, caches, and memory.
  • Knowledge of power-domain isolation design and physical design (P&R).
  • Experience developing automotive SoCs or designing and verifying for functional safety and reliability.
  • Experience technically coordinating and negotiating with IP vendors or overseas sites.
  • Japanese language proficiency at a communicative level.

About the Company

Renesas Electronics

Automotive-focused MCUs, SoCs, analog devices

Renesas manufactures and sells MCUs, SoCs, and analog/power semiconductor devices to OEMs, focusing on automotive, industrial, infrastructure, and IoT markets. Its chips are building blocks that run embedded software and manage power and signals, and its Winning Combinations offer pre-tested system architectures to speed up design. It differentiates itself by growing through acquisitions to offer a broad, integrated portfolio and by moving toward a unified digital design platform to reduce integration work.
